Default Gong show in Ottawa Continues - Coaches Fired

RENEGADES coach John Jenkins and his coaching staff have been blitzed.
Sources told the Sun last night that Jenkins and his staff have been told to pack their belongings and vacate the team's football building at Frank Clair Stadium. In effect, Jenkins has been fired without coaching a game. And he has been told that he will not coach the Renegades under any of the possible scenarios.
Speculation being the league is about to take over the team...the Jenkins hiring hasn't been popular with anyone from the start (see: his tenure with Calgary for reasons why). Looks like football in Ottawa won't exist this year....

Hey Jenkins, I got an idea: why don't we PASS the ball.

Canadian Football League officials will arrive at the Ottawa Renegades' offices today, seeking first-hand indications that the club is ready to kick off in 2006.

League officials are expected to complete a thorough inventory of the team's video and football equipment, but the timing of the visit is intriguing and suggests that progress has been made in selling the troubled club.

The deadline for a decision about the Renegades is April 4, but there is some flexibility in either direction. If significant progress is made with a prospective purchaser, the deadline could be extended. If no serious discussions are held by the end of this week, a decision to suspend the team's 2006 operations could come sooner.

Several sources have confirmed there is interest in the Renegades.

The Herald today says that Bruce Urban (from Calgary) is interested.

The same Bruce Urban who bought the Edmonton NLL franchise...but also the same Bruce Urban who proclaimed on Sprts @11:30 a year and a half ago that he was talking with Feterik to buy the Stamps, and Feterik wanted to sell it to him...all this was when the Forzani Group were in final talks.

Within 2 days the Forzani group made the purchase. His appearance on Sports@11:30 made him look like a half step up from a slick talking used car guy. His ego and proclimations that he was going to be the next owner, and then being totally without truth made him look the part, too.

Maybe an upgrade on the Gliberman's , but likely not buy much when it comes to ego.
