I PVR'd it so I'll have to watch it Friday.
I did miss the previous week's. Anything I need to know before watching the current one?

We didn't understand who the priest was trying to apologize to, and why he gave the prisoner a clip of his beard.
How many frikkin' hatches are there? So are the "others" associated with this Dharma Corp. or whatever it's called? Do they want the button pushed?
It looks like the prisoner has turned the table on the mind games.
I agree, it was a good episode. It's one of those shows I keep looking at the clock thinking, damn! I need more time!
EDIT: Do you think it is possible the clipping of the beard was a gesture to show he knows the leader of the others had a fake beard? He is a plant, but was forced to kill guys from his own team, and that is what he is apologizing for? It would seem weird if that were the case, since they have had flashback eppies for him.

I'm losing interest in Lost. It's gradually turned from a mysterious adveture show, into a soap opera. It seems like they are making stuff up as they go.
I also can't stand that all season long, new episodes seem dispersed.

I disagree. The creators and writers of LOST have been clear that they have a roadmap already planned out and are not making stuff up as they go along.
Some fans grow disinterested with this type of show after a while - seems to happen with any show that is all about more and more questions, with few true answers ever being provided.
I think the show has maintained if not improved its quality. Mr. Echo is the coolest character on TV right now and I've enjoyed the "new mysteries" this season.

Important things that happened:
- Rousseau leads Sayid to a person who she has caught, and tells him it is one of The Others. Sayid takes this person to the hatch and they agree to lock him in the room where they used to keep the guns.
- The person they caught swears he is not one of the others, and that he doesn't even know what they're talking about. He claims to have crash landed on the island from a balloon.
- Sayid and co are skeptical, though, because Rousseau was very insistent that he was an Other, and because she said it would take a lot (eg. torture) for him to admit it.
- Jack won't let them torture this guy, so Locke helps Sayid into the room and changes the combo, so Jack can't interfere while Sayid does the torturing
- A pretty exciting part happens next - The computer starts to beep (for the numbers to be entered). Jack won't let Locke put the numbers in unless he opens the door (so Jack can stop Sayid). The numbers get to zero.
- The clock starts to spin really fast, and we hear a loud rumbling in the background. Slowly, each digit on the clock thing stops on different bright red hieroglyphics. Locke is able to get "enter" on the computer just quickly enough that the rumbling stops and the clock resets.
It was a pretty good one. You're not going to want to miss watching the newest, though.

This season is quite a bit better than last season, IMHO. Although that Charlie episode was... weird. (The "I've got to save the baby" one)

Well Echo had no idea about the fake beards, since he wasn't there when Kate found them.
It gave us a definite answer on who the others are, and a somewhat vague idea of what they are up to.
We still don't know how they got there, or what their goal is.
That was the best episode so far in season 2.

He would know, if he had known them for some reason before. That's what I am saying. Why else would he offer what he did to the prisoner? Just guessing.

True, but like you mentioned...they had the flashback epidoses of him, and also showed him when the plane crashed trying to rescue people.
So if he did know them before, something doesn't add up.

He asked forgiveness for killing two of the 'others'. His beard had two 'nubs' on it. After he asked for foregiveness, he clipped them off. I think that would symbolize that he is no longer carrying the guilt of killing the two people.
Man, and I thought i was bad with imagery!

My question is, why are they after children? They took the children in a raid in an earlier episode. In the last episode, they were after the baby.

I remember in an earlier episode that one of the others said something about the survivors they were killing being "not good people". My guess is the others see themselves as saving the children, taking them so they can be raised properly.
Edit: Entertainment Weekely recently ran an article in which a writer laid out his Lost theory.
Any thoughts?

Good find. It all seems possible. Names of the survivors and their meanings give very ambigous clues to ther role on the Island. Walt, an unusual name for a young boy means army leader. Sayid is a name of distinction that is hard to translate says token Muslim guy here at work. The guy who was in the hatch whos name escapes me,m meant man of the world and he was shipwrecked on a race around the world. There are others that have escaped me.
The biggest thing that a lot of people seemed to have missed or forgotten about is the relationship of black and white. The backgammon game between walt and locke when he was explaining to walt, Black vs white good vs evil. Thyen they found the black and white stones on the bodies in the cave when they discovered it. White polar bear, black cloud, black rock.
The writers know exactly where they are going with this show. Everytime they give you something you have 10X the questions.
I have thought about this show way to much. From now on Im just going to sit back and let them tell the story.

something to remember about Lost is Jeph Loeb is part of the writing team. Looking at my bookshelf I'm seeing Dark Victory, and Hush being two Batman series' written by Loeb.
For those that like lots of questions, twists, and turns I reccomend reading Batman: Hush written by Loeb. He did a great job on it, and has an amazing ability to drop hints, keep you guessing, and once you think you have it worked out he pulls another twist without jeopardizing the facts.
Personally I like the twists, and questions, but like Barnes I enjoy sitting back and letting the story unfold. But I do find the theories interesting.

OK, rather than starting yet another new LOST thread, I thought I'd bump this one. Here's my question:
The guy that they have captured; the one who is either an "Other" or crashed on a balloon, who is the actor? It's driving me nuts. I know he's been on other shows, but just can't place him.

If you ever watched The Practice, he had a great multi-episode part as a serial killer who was being defended by the firm.

Yep, that's it. He's the one who was stalking Lindsay, and she ended up killing him in the end. (IIRC)
I recalled him being a psycho on another show, and I also see he has some Law & Order credits, so odds are he played a sick pervert on there too.
