I applaud that move. Don't like people who are out of the playoffs waiving players that playoff teams could claim. If you don't want the player and you're out of it, buy the player out. It's not like you need the cap space anymore and that a CPHL vs. AHL buyout makes a difference.

Yes there is a Cap please refer to the post from Cheese, this move was done to stop a team from waiving real good players (i.e. a potential UFA) in the playoffs.

This happened a few years back from the former Cap's GM who waived Steve Yzerman in the playoffs.

I think what Cheese means Becky is that you can waive players without fear of other teams picking them up.

So I'm GUESSING that you could theoretically waive Daniel Alfredsson and nobody would be able to claim him... maybe I can get a confirmation on this?
