Default Sharks Year End Report

The Sharks year can be summed up in one word: optimism.

GM Taejeonguy took over this team just before the waiver draft and, quite frankly, despite a gift from Cheesus himself in the form of Joe Thornton, the cupboard was looking mighty bare! This team was looking like a minor league team masquerading as a CPHL team, right down to the GM himself. So, despite a steep learning curve, Taejeonguy rolled up the rim to win....errr...I mean his sleeves and got busy.

When all is said and done the future is suddenly looking much rosier... Talented young players have been accumulated and there is light at the end of the tunnel (and no it is NOT a train! ). Players such as Morrison, and Vermette have played very well for their teams in the NHL, which bodes well for their re-rates. Other players that are key to the future include: Robert Nilsson, Igor Grigorenko, Petr Vrana, and Jerred Smithson. Prospects that look like they hve bright futures include: Sergei Kostsitsyn (who won the OHL Rookie of the month-twice!), Jakub Klepis (who is up in the NHL now), and several others.

The future does indeed look better, and with a large amount of money to spend this offseason the team is looking to fill some holes. Acqusition of some scoring punch and an offensive defenseman have become the priority. The idea is to take the positives and build on them, while also taking the bumps encountered to date as the lessons that were necessary to be better tomorrow.

GM Taejeonguy had this finally to say,
"This year was a very trying time, no doubt. Learning who will try to bend you over in a trade and who will try to kiss you after doing so; as well as learning who respects you and realizes that a fair trade enhances both sides, took time. Learning the ropes and the quirks of this game was also...interesting. But, now that these lessons are learned, many the hard way, the Sharks can confidently say....WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR! The playoffs are our goal and from there, who knows?"
