Default Schultz welcomed to TinselTown

Kings Defense Bolstered

Los Angeles, CA - The Los Angeles Kings announced today the acquisition of defender Nick Schultz from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for young forward Ryan Getzlaf. "It is always difficult to see a promising young player like Getzlaf leave, but we believe we have answered one of our most pressing needs in acquiring Schultz. As we all know good young defenders are a rare commodity in this league. We wish Ryan all the best in Philly" said GM Sra regarding the latest move. Also moving to sunny Los Angeles in the deal is intruiging yet controversial Russian power forward Artyukin.

Before concluding the press conference it was noted that Scott Walker had sold his Malibu home in anticipation of a trade. When queried on the subject, Sra said this was nothing more than conjecture at this point.

The Kings blueline looks solid for next year with the following pairings...

Brewer-Phaneuf
Schultz-VanRyn
Liles-Skrastins
Jurcina-Streit

Flyers GM Noops Pulls Off His Biggest Trade

Flyers GM Noops took the podium Thursday morning during a flyers conference and announce that he has finally added some more offence to the team, bringing in a rising star in Ryan Getzlaf.

“We expect Getzlaf to be a big part of our future. We were very weak down the middle and expect Getzlaf to jump in right away as our number 2 centre. We had to give up a lot in return to get him in Nick Schultz and Evgeny Artukhin, but we were willing to take the risk. Both Schultz and Artukhin will be steady players and we wish them the best, but we were really desperate to add some more high impact offence to the team. Since we also expect Gleason and Corvo to be a big part of our defence next season, we could afford to move Schultz.”

“In Getzlaf we get a big centre that has tremendous upside.” Coach Rudy added. “Imagine having Eric Fehr coming down one side, Gilbert Brule flying down the other and Ryan Getzlaf crashing the net up the middle. There's a lot of potential in Philly. We are going to be a scary team within a couple of seasons.”

Schultz, a steady defensive defenseman, led the flyers defence with 15 goals and 22 assists for a total 37 points, in 82 games this year. Artukhin was playing for the Flyers farm club.
