Best University Between...
I am looking to get into a Business program out east. I have applied to Ryerson, Carleton & Queens. I'm just wondering, taking all things into account, which would be the best to go to? I'm sure many of you have been to university (Some, judging by their posts didn't graduate ) but would have more insight than me since I have no older brothers or sisters to go through the university system.
Any help would be amazing!

Queen's School of Business is purportedly one of the best in Canada, and for MBAs is ranked #1 by BusinessWeek magazine. http://business.queensu.ca/news/news_item.php?id=153
I hate business because I can't understand it by I have a lot of friends in the faculty who seem to enjoy it, and I am confident you would have more fun at Queen's than those other schools, but maybe I am biased.

Academically, Queens is one of the best in the country. Definitley better than Carleton and Ryerson.
Whether you want to go to Kingston is another issue altogether. For what it's worth, I've got a bunch of friends at Queen's right now and they all seem to love it. I'd imagine it would be much different than living in Ottawa or Toronto.

As a U of Calgary business graduate, take the Queen's route.
I heard nothing but great accolades about that place during my studies from teachers and former students alike.
As well, try applying to the Richard Ivey School of Business at the U of Western Ontario. It's also a great school, and has many ties to the Harvard Business School as well.

I second that recommendation.
I am currently attending Laurentian University in Sudbury taking the Sports Administration program, and dozens of guys I took first and second year classes with have/are transferring to London to complete their degrees there. Supposed to be a fantastic business school, so I hear.

I'm sorry, I thought you said out East
Sobeys School of Business at St. Mary's University is probably the best, if you're looking for Business Admin - Cape Breton University has a stellar program as well.
Oh and the obligatory Dalhousie Faculty of Management, seeing as how it's my faculty... a sister program to mine is the MBA.

The University of Windsor kicks ass....
Sorry, had to plug the 'ol school! UWO is a good school, if you're gay.....oooooooo, sorry for that, everyone hates UWO here. But they do have a good Business school. But they're gay.

Queens, U of T & UWO all have well known business & MBA programs. You may want to see what each Universities' particular strengths are. For example, I'm a McMaster grad and they are strong in the labour side of business (with Stelco & Dofasco in Hamilton, they have a lot of blue collar union examples).
Most institutions try to differentiate themselves somehow, check them out to see which appeals to you.

Personally, I'm at York University doing a BAS in General Management (doing it in 5 1/2 years rather than 4...presently in Year 4). Honestly, Ryerson let's any Tom, Dick and Harry into their business programs, so I'd stay away. Queens is probably the best out of the ones you mentioned, but Carleton is really good too. You should have considered Scheulich (sp?) at York which probably truimphs those listed, or Western's Ivy or Laurier or Waterloo or U of T. Personally, I really think for an undergrad, it really makes little difference where you graduated from with regards to business. As long as your marks are good, no worries. I think it matters where you do it with regards to your post grad studies (which I personally have no intention of doing aside from possibly a teachers college stint). What it comes down to is the environment that you're comfortable in, and can control yourself from going out every night. I could have gone to UofT, and I'm so glad I didn't. Too much competition, no friends, most are geeks, and worst...no girls. If you go to Ryerson, expect people telling you, "I got in there, but went to ____ instead." Carleton expect nice girls. Queens, "which gas station do you wanna hang out at tonight guys?...". Western, expect...gonorrhea (nevermind, that wasn't one of your choices...but it's sure to get you one hell of a time!)

Yeah I go to Carleton and I really don't like it too much. I am not in the business program, but I do know that Carleton is known more for their Journalism program and to a lesser extent their engineering programs. I am sure the business program is fine but I have heard much better things about Queens and UofT.

Hmmm. Not really accurate. Queen's and Western are the two biggest party schools in the country.
Kingston as a town may be dull but there are bars galore here and parties every single night. I regret not coming here (or Western) for my undergrad. If you like to party and attend a good school Queen's is your choice.

Not having gone to Queens or Western I do have to question whether what criteria they are labelled THE two biggest party schools in the country. I would think there are plenty including U of L where I went that can at least match them if not beat them. If they were bigger party schools than U of L than more power to them and I wish I had gone there. I just can't imagine a bigger party school thatn Lethbridge.

well, UBC, Utterly Boring Campus, is not a party central.
Maybe because everyone's high...or maybe that's just me.

I've done time at UofC, MRC, Western and UBC. The schools in Southern Ontario are much wilder than anything else. Western has frat houses everywhere. At the homecoming game, ambulances are lined up around the block to take away the students with alcohol poisoning. No one went to school on Fridays because they were all hung over. You would have to go to the bars at 4:30 on a Thursday to even get a seat. London was a bit of a ghost town in the summer and long weekends though - a lot of students go home to Toronto. There a a huge residence at Western that is co-ed. The failure rate for those students was very high. The school spirit was awesome in towns like London and Kingston, because everyone lives right around the campus.
Vancouver is awesome for different reasons; UBC does not have the spirit that the Eastern schools do, but Vancouver is a great place to live as a young person. I imagine McGill and UofT offer the same excitement. Windsor is close to Detroit.

Yep. I have three cousins at Western at the moment and I can personally attest to Queen's, with evidence: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...926?hub=Canada
I am sure U of L is probably more of a party school than a lot in Western Canada because it isn't a commuter school (i.e. no one comes from Lethbridge), but this is the first I've heard of U of L being a major party school and I have a lot of friends who have gone there.
Believe me, these Ontario schools are crazier than you think. There is much more of an American-style school spirit/****-fest approach to university in this part of the country. I think also some Maritimes schools like Acadia are also way up there in terms of partying.

St FX would probably take the cake in terms of partying
I haven't been to Western or London, however
St FX is in Antigonish, for those that haven't heard of this place there's a reason... is sucks ass, and not like the good ass of your best friend's sister with the rock hard body, I mean sweaty, hairy, ass of that short, fat guy who likes to walk around the locker room of the local community pool naked ... ass!
St FX isn't as much a university as it is a cult. There are only three bars or something in the town (it's that small) which means there is TONS of partying in rez and on campus. They even have a road for pedistrians only, with street lights and everything to walk from campus to the liquor store and back. I'm not sure if there's an official name for it or not, I've just heard it refered to as "Liquor Lane".
Having went to Cape Breton University, and now Dalhousie University, I must admit I have a rivalrous hate on for X, but party they can.

I've noticed that a lot of the waitors and food service clerks in and around town seem to all have those funny rings with an "X" on them. When I was young I used to think that they indicated some sort of Waitors union or something. As it turns out it's just a St. FX grad ring.

Western also leads the country in number of pregnancies for their students too. (I'd take Western )
