Default Toyota 4 Runner is it any good?

Well it looks like I'm likely going to lose my year and a half long battle with my wife over what type of vehichle we should buy. As much as I hate to admit it when it comes to vehichles Toyota probably has as good a reputation as there is. They're high in quality, durable as they come and I don't think I've ever read a bad review on a Toyota. I'm likely looking to buy a 2003 or newer and from what I understand it's not worth going to the V8 unless it's a 2005 or newer. So anyone have a 2003 or newer 4 runner? If so what are your thoughts on it?

Thanks in advance for anyone who has any advice.

My 4 Runner is an 88 and I friggin love it. Just about 400 000 kms on it. I've had to put some money into it recently (shocks, clutch, water pump) but that's not bad considering how old she is.

Anyway, that doesnt answer your questions but just chalk it up as another good review.

I am a GM fan 100%. I can't see myself ever buying anything else.

However, I have heard nothing but good about Toyotas as far as reliability. If I were to go import then Toyota would likely be my first choice.

One thing to consider; have you looked at how often certain vehicles get stolen? Depending on your paranoia (sp?) factor; that's something to think about. (or use to plead your case with your wife.)

The GMC Envoy is getting really good reviews as well. The thing is I like, it has true 4 wheel drive with a lockign diff and as far as I can recall the Toyota's do not. Depends on how much you want to take it off road though, but it still is nice in the winter.

Oh my bad. I was picturing that RAV4 thingy. I should know better than to comment in car threads.

That Mercedes thing is ugly as all hell. You'd have to be on crack to pay $100,00 for that.

here are a few picture of one of the above mentioned G-Class Mercedes...
This one that i sold was the hopped up version with 469HP supercharged V8. May be ugly but it is a sweet ride.... Nothing else like it on the road.. they are fantastic off road as well. initally designed as a military vehicle...

I owned a Nissan once and the service and the way the dealership conducted itself appalled me. I even wrote letters complaining to the head office and got nothing back from them. Not even so much as a simple apology. They can build a nice vehichle all they want and they do have some good ones, but I'll never buy one ever again.

Loooove my Tundra. You can't beat Toyota's these days.....reliable, durable, and most importantly (for me anyways) is the resale value.

A little expensive to fix though (when they do break).

Speaking of Flames and their rides, does Sutter drive a Red 70's Corvette? Could have sworn I saw him driving one this past Summer.

Anyone?
