Any other Golfers on this board?

Ive been golfing a few times and now Im thinking I should take golf lessons
to improve my game. Golf is a game you can enjoy until your like 85 or something like that and its a good time out with people.

Anyone else here golf? If so...how long have you been golfing for?

I just started to get into it this past summer.

I'm 23 now, so I've been playing for 15 years, and hopefully have another 60 to go. I'm addicted. I play somewhere between 150 and 170 rounds a summer. It's a heck of a lot easier to get out when you work at the course, believe you me.

Wow, that is a lot of golf, my friend. I wish I could get out and play more, but 150 rounds? That's unbelievable.

I've been playing for about 20 years now. I used to work at a course as well, and that's when I played the most and got my handicap down to single digits, or close to. Now I'm closer to a 15 handicap, but I still love going out and it's a great excuse for a road trip with your buddies, sans wives and girlfriends, of course!

I went for some lessons 11 years ago, have gone actually golfing once or twice, but I was never really enjoying it or had the patience. I enjoy the range though. My dad goes all the time though and is pretty fanatical about it but he picked it up in his 40s.

I used to play quite a bit, but I don't like playing a sport if I can't play it at an elite level. I was just never good enough at golf. I played 75-100 rounds/year for a couple years, but just never got any better and I became disenchanted with the game. Now I play only a few times a year. I used to be a 12 but now I'd probably be a 22 or so.

I'm a pretty big golf nut, I've been playing for about 7 years. I don't get out golfing as much as I'd like and i'm not as good as I'd like to be, but for me it always those flashes of brillance that keep me playing and keep me thinking I can be alot better than I am. Don't know what courses anyone here does, but I basically play ones I can get easy access to because I don't drive. I play Shaganappi (Sp?) in the south west alot, I've played most of the City run courses and not alot else, Played Springbank a few times, Drumheller, a few courses in Okotoks, probably around a 25 handicap.

I'm 20 and have been playin since about 8 years old. Prolly go out about 10-15 times a year if I'm lucky. Play alot of city courses like shag, confed, maple ridge, etc. sprinkled in with the occasional trip to the "priveleged" courses with friend that is a member. (Hamptons, Valley ridge) It's good fun, biggest advice is don't overanalyze your swing or take it too seriously. Just go out and have a few beers with friends and it'll be a great time. Oh, and get other people to book the times. It's a pain in the ass to try to get 4 people together at the same time to go play a round.

I'm 25 and started playing 3 summers ago. Couldn't play much last year cuz my wife was pregnant. The previous years, my buddies and I got in about 20 rounds. Slowly improving!

I started off with lessons a few years ago that my wife bought for me. Best thing I ever did, there were no years of bad habits to unravel!

Only went out a a few times last year, life got in the way. But the Links course at Country Hills was excellent.

I wish I was uber rich so that I could play a lot more golf. Usually luckey if I can get in one round a week in the summer when the weathers decent. Used to play at about a 10 handicap but now lurk somewhere in the 16-20 range. Can never get all elements of the game together in the same round. If I'm hitting the ball long and straight, you can guarantee that I'll three putt all day and shoot 90. Other days I'll be all over the course and never hit a green in reg but knock down 15 long range putts to shoot an 80. Frustrating game that golf.

I really need to get golfing on a regular basis again. Its a great way to spend some time with friends. I usually play 4-5 rounds per year, thats IF I am lucky. Which I usually am not

Yeah, when you work 6-2 it's easy to get out after, and when you work 2-10 it's easy to get out before. I finally took some lessons last winter, and got the old handicap down to 0 after a 15-year odyssey. And while it is a good excuse to have a weekend away from the girlfriend or wife, it's also a pretty effective way to meet girls too.
