Default Broken Ipod- Apple Repair Question

Last night my ipod mini froze and now makes crazy ticking noises. The guy at compusmart says it sounds like the hard drive. Anyhow, I've done the apple online repair request. I'm just waiting for them to send me the box so I can send it back to them.
I'm just wondering if anyone has every had to send their ipod away for servicing and if so, how long did it take to get your ipod back? I'm going on a road trip next weekend and cringe at the thought of not having my pod :baby:

Thanks!!

Well, this is not exactly what you are looking for but:
- My iPod got it's "cold" in summer at some point (the odd freeze accompanied with a ticking noise coming from the hard drive)
- I was able to use the thing for about 5 more months, with the problem getting slowly worse which was only corrected by banging the pod against a semihard object.
- Finally I made my apple repair request (I did have a year to get it back to them on warranty), and they sent the box within about 2 days.
- They say expect to get another one back within 1-2 weeks
- I got the box. Procrastinated on sending it until my warranty ran out, but I still had one with BestBuy. So I took my iPod over there, gave it to them, and as of 3 weeks ago, I should be getting it back this week.

Just remember that you will not be getting your same iPod back. Instead it will be some other refurbished one, so back up your music!

It is too bad you don't have apple stores in Canada. I took it back there for a battery that lost half its life, and got a new one in 2 days. I would expect their mail in service to be pretty quick, Apple tries to be good with their service.
