Raptors deal Williams to Hornets

Less than one week after taking over as the Toronto Raptors interim GM, Embry traded centre Aaron Williams to the New Orleans Hornets for two second-round draft picks.

The Raptors will get a second-round pick in 2006 that originally belonged to Miami and New Orleans' second-round choice in 2009.


Williams played in 14 games with the Raptors this season and averaged 1.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 7.1 minutes.

Awesome. Get rid of some of the stiffs, pick up some picks and hope their draft luck is a bit better than before.

So the Raptors get another 4 picks this year, projecting to around 3, 22, 33, 55. I was pretty happy with last year's picks in retrospect, but all these young guys are going to need playing time to mature. Wouldn't be suprised to see the Raptors go with the european route again (especially for their second-rounders), so that they don't have to worry about getting these guys playing time.
