NFL Conference Championships
I look forward to this day every year even more than the Super Bowl.
The 12 guys in our fantasy football league get together at the pub to watch a double header of playoff football. This is the 8th year we've done this as a league. The money collected from waivers and trades will pay most of the tab. (I'm not kidding. We probably collected more than $700 from these transactions). I hope I can see through the fog by the 4th quarter of the second game.
I think both games are going to be close. But unlike last week when visiting teams did well, I think both home teams will win today. Make it a Denver-Seattle Super Bowl. Having said that, I don't feel comfortable wagering against Carolina in Seattle. The Seahawks still have something to prove in my opinion. In the other game, Denver is a tough place to win for visiting teams. Even though the Steelers are on a roll, I think Denver is better suited to handle the Pittsburgh pass rush. Jake Plummer is at his best when he's forced to scramble.

I think the Panthers and the Broncos win.
Setting up the Jake bowl. Delhomme vs Plummer.

Yeah, those are the two teams I'm picking too. Although I do want to see the Steelers beat the Bronco's, the smarter money is on Denver to win at home.

I like both home teams, but I wouldn't be surprised to see either visitor win.

Hmm, I thought I would be in the severe minority betting on Carolina and Denver, but I guess not. 1:00 can't come fast enough!!

Anybody else catch the short feature on Rod Smith on the ESPN pregame show?
I loved his answer about why he doesn't showboat. I love that he's never missed a minute of the offseason program (which includes a lot of OPTIONAL workouts for the record).
I love Rod Smith and I think he's the most underrated receiver in the NFL for the last 8 years, a first ballot hall of famer when he hangs 'em up and the greatest Bronco ever not named Elway.
I'm extremely proud to be wearing his jersey as I watch the Steelers (the only other NFL team I have an affinity for) kick off to Charlie Adams to get this thing going!
GO BRONCOS GO!

Who do I WANT to win both games?!
Steelers and Seahawks.
But Denver is VERY good at home. And Carolina are the road warriors. I think both games will be very close.

I figured you would like that segment. I said it last year and I'll say it again. Having receivers like Rod Smith on your team will win you a Superbowl. Having Terell Owens on your team will get you a head ache. I remember Jerry Rice being a comsummate professional, during his best season's. Rod Smith is exactly that. He is certainly one of the most underrated players by the fans as he doesn't get a lot of national media spot light, but within those in the know in the NFL, I imagine Rod Smith rates very high.

Hopefully Hassleback and the Seahawks are watching on how NOT to come out at home and play overly conserative/borderline scared in a Championship game.

Yeah, it's over. 30 minutes isn't enough time to come back from a 3 TD deficit at home. It's never ever ever happened before.

I'm not sure that is the case, but the defense certainly isn't getting it done. We are awfully young in the secondary, but that hasn't been anything negative all season, not sure why it would be now.

Hey, so it was a hyperbole. However, 3 TD's when you have a defence that has proven to be inept at stopping the Steelers is a pretty large deficit. As a Bronco's fan you can't say you were happy with the way they played today. I sure wasn't. They showed a little bit of life in the end but alas 3 TD's was too big of a lead to come back from. I too was clutching at straws all game hoping they could come back, trying to justify there otherwise extremely poor preformance. Oh well, there is always next year. Go Seahawks/Panthers!

Nope, I wasn't. But, I didn't give up on them either. I guess that's where we are different. I hope you enjoyed your second half.
Good luck to the Steelers, but they won't need it. They are superior in every way to both teams they could face.
It's funny, Shanahan got criticized for the Cleveland Brown D-line thingy early and then they were awesome all year. They didn't show up at all today.
I'm sure Plummer will get crucified, but the loss can hardly be pinned on him. He showed a ton of heart and will in the second half as well.

I didn't think it was in response to anything. I'm trying to figure out how it's funny though.

Condolences my Witchita friend.
Wow....as the "pundits" have said for a while now, they were waiting for the Plummer melt down, and it came at the worst possible time. He was, quite simply, awful at the wrong time.
Kudos to the Steelers, and especially Big Ben, Cedrick, and Troy...holy crap is Polomalu a special football player.
