The Ducks lost a close one to the Bruins 4-3 today. The game was close to the end with the Bruins scoring the last goal.

The powerplay chances were abit strange with the Bruins getting 8 chances while the Ducks didn't get even one chance at all.

Maybe next time when the ref comes around looking for donuts before the game we will be more willing to share them.

Leafs win another close one.

The stars carried the Leafs tonight. Marc Savard scored twice and Manny Fernandez played well again. The Leafs have finally started playing better and now have a somewhat respectable record in their last 10.

Hmmmm. Outshoot the opposing team 46-19 and lose.

Lame.

CANUCKS CLIP ISLES

Richard Jackman looks at the puck off Martin Rucinsky's stick which found
its way past a stunned Tomas Vokoun Sunday afternoon.

UNIONDALE, NY - Jeff Halpern was named the game's first star assisting on two of the three Vancouver goals as the Canucks went into Long Island and defeated the Islanders by a score of 3-2.

The first period started quickly as both teams combined for 26 shots in total with Scott Mellanby (20) and Marcus Nilson (19) scoring for the Canucks while Derek Roy (5) answered for the Isles on the powerplay.

The teams traded goals in the second with Jiri Hudler tipping in a Keith Ballard point shot at 2:11 to tie the game, but Martin Rucinsky's knuckler from the slot found its way past Tomas Vokoun after ricocheting off a few bodies in front to put Vancouver up by one.

The final period saw no scoring as both teams traded few chances and played out the final 20 minutes seemingly more concerned with limiting the number of chances they might give up.

The Isles will get the next two nights off before they visit the Canucks at GM Place for a rematch on Wednesday night.

CAPITALS OR CRAPITALS?!

JETS 5 CAPS 0-JETS TIED FOR 4TH IN HOWE!
Jets Record:
28-24(2)-6=64 pts—T4th in the conference.

Jet Goals:

CAJANEK 16 (BARNES, MIRONOV)

Positives:

Another offensive outburst for the Jets tonight after 2 crappy games. Penalty killing was great and the power play potted 2 goals.

Negatives:

No complaining after a big shutout.

Player of the Game:

Tender Rick DiPietro for making 22 saves for his 2nd shutout of the season.

Turning Point:

14 minutes into the game, Petr Cajanek opened the scoring when he knocked a rebound behind Manny Legace.

Up Next:

Blues lose 3-1 to the Trashers

Well, there were some positives here...we kept it close, we kept the mighty Thrashers to 24 shots, and we were in the game the whole way. We may have lost, but at least we showed up!

Oddly, the Blues have almost a whole week to consider their lot in life...with the exception of a tough Tuesday matchup against the Pens, we don't play until next Saturday, a return engagement with the Thrashers no less.

We expect to drop a few places in the standings in the next week as we're passed by teams that play a few games, but hopefully this mid season respite will see a refreshed Blues club come back strong for the playoff push.
