Default Looking for some ideas

Hey guys and gals.
I am promoting a concert here in my little home town and I was looking for some ideas from all you smart people as to promotions and setup.

The evening is a dinner/concert. its to benefit the local minor hockey group and a kids in sports program.

The artist that will be performing is Alfie Zappacosta. Some of you youngens might not remember him but he was extremely popular in the 80's and has moved over to a smooth jazz genre of music.

what I am looking for is some ideas as far as promotion is concerned to encourage a good turn out and make it a good event.

I have the usual..posters, paper advertising..etc..
what can I do at the actual event to make it good.
eg) candles. flowers for the ladies...etc...

The room seats 400 people and I am hoping that we can create a sell out.

let me know what ya think

Give the local Nudist Colony 50 free tickets....(females only). 50% off to the rest! Advertise the event on the local smoothe Jazz radio station.

If you can guarantee that Zappacosta will bite the heads off bats, that should fill the room.

I think you might be overstating his popularity just a tad.

In your advertisements (if you haven't finalized them yet) put in bold letters that an admission ticket = a raffle ticket. Get some good prizes for the raffle depending on the demographic. (Family vacations? Don't you own a travel agency?)

we are still trying to make some money on the bottom line though.
raffling off a trip can be a bit expensive.

Well I don't know how your finances for the event is working out, but maybe just a gift certificate from your travel agency then? Just a suggestion.

see if you can get a radio station to mention it, it shouldn't be hard considering its for charity.
