That can't be true...I mean nobody can be that stupid, can they?
If it is true, I'd have to think the only explanation is that there's certain elements of the Liberal party (loyalists to Chretien's gang, maybe?) that are deliberately trying to lose this election and force a change of leadership.
I mean really...if they're going to phone in accusations like that, surely they wouldn't do it from their riding headquarters. Right? Right?!

Every few years it seems someone gets caught doing dumb stuff like this. I'll wait until I see some more credible reports for confirmation, but I wouldn't be surprised that a losing campaign worker would try this; I'm just surprised how stupid it is to try it from the campaign office.

I don't see what the big deal is accusing someone of that. I mean the Cons would do it and .........
lol kidding what an idiot.

I went to his website and found nothing.... www.mauricevellacott.ca.
I then went to what appears to be his other website (or a very good fake) at www.mauricevellacott.com and found it.
I'm not sure what to think because i really have no knowledge of this site. If it's true I'm sure we will hear all about it soon enough.

If the link seems fake (which it does to me, after looking into it), just replace it with this garbage, and it's all the same.
I bet the States will really be gung-ho about defending our asses if someone ever targets Canada.

I'm obviously biased because I was always going to vote Conservative unless they had some truly scary things in the platform (which of course was never going to happen). But it seems with each passing day Martin gets more and more fanatical. He's really pouring on the "harper is complete evil" schtick even more desperately than last time out and it really just looks comical. Again perhaps that's because I'm voting Tory but it really seems as the one desperate to have the power is Martin.

www.mauricevellacott.com is linked on the Conservative party website, so I assume that is the official one, or the updated one. Guess the press release on that site is real. Should be interesting to see if this hits the mainstream media

I was discussing this with colleagues recently as well. I mean, how can such an experienced party be making so many mistakes in one election

It took a while for it to open for me. I won't quote it due to the ramifications to CP, but the jist of it is somebody called a cable TV show when a CPC candidate was on and accused him of sexual assault. They went on to ask for name, etc, and then finally had the call traced. The trace came from the campagn HQ of a Liberal candidate.
I question anything I read on a website with the name "officially screwed.com" until I read it somewhere else.

There is no question there is a huge divide in the liberal party. Specualtion is that the party could self destructif they do get decimated in the election (which hasn't happened yet and in fact there is a chance it doesn't happen...there are several close races and they may have the luck on their side election night). If they end up losing big the party is going to be a mess for quite some time.

Ok..read it.
It looks kind of iffy to me. Mostly because the very station it reportedly happened on...has nothing on their own website about it.

Even if it was real, which I am also skeptical of, this could simply be the work of an overzealous staffer, possibly without the consent of even the candidate he is "representing", let alone the party.

Wow....though Im not sure the Lib candidate can really be held responsible. An overzealous/stupid volunteer who likely let no one know what he was doing....but i bet it hurts his guy.

Overzealous campaign staffer...kind of reminds me of the "Dalton McGuinty is an evil reptillian kitten-eater from outer space" memo from a few years back.
Of course, that was super hilarious, whereas this is a far more serious allegation.

Pretty shameful, but the Canada.com article doesn't make it sound as bad as the 1st source.
I agree it is a serious thing to say, but is asking if he ever did something the same as making an allegation? I'm just wondering about the legal definition of making as allegation.

Yeah it'll hurt him. It has to.
This is so ######ed though that it's not hard to believe that there is some sabotage going on here.
I mean really, even the lowest Liberal flunkie has heard of call-display. This isn't like back in the day when the Sargeant is barking at the detective to keep the kidnapper on the line for 2 minutes so they can trace the call.
It's gotta be a disgruntled Liberal or a mischievous Conservative type behind it all.
