As per Tankathon and MoneyPuck, the Flames have less than a 1% chance of picking 7th, 8th, etc.
But I guess it's still nice to have a CP prospect ranking.

The fact that there are still players I like at 7th OA means that we will have a good pick no matter where we land.
In my opinion, the top 2 are ahead of 3-8, but 3-9 are all relatively close.

I will be sick if we end up picking 7th after the seasons we’ve had.

Yeah I just don't sweat it.
Don't want to see the Flames finish 17th overall and have the worst non playoff draft position for sure, but 3, 4, 5, 7 whatever. They'll get a good player.
-Make sure you deal with unrestricted free agents (check on Andersson)
-Position team in the future by moving out players that won't be here when it matters (check on Weegar and Kadri).
-Draft well.
-Develop well.
-Enjoy the ride.

Carels to me is the second, and maybe first defenseman available.
Big, strong, skates well, and can play big minutes in every situation.
You are looking at a player that can play 20-35 minutes a night from the first minute to the last minute of game situations, and in that final minute be on if you are down a goal or up a goal.
When the Flames decided on Parekh instead of Dickenson, they went with a gamble on elite offensive talent. Going with Reid would be the same scenario.
This time I would go with Carels, and then I would go Smits, and final defenseman would be Reid.

Tie goes to the non-american on this one.
Smits or Carels, whoever the scouts like more.
