Rest in peace. Has a rink named after him in St Albert. A young man.

Murray was a Center with a reputation as a great defender, being awarded the Selke for the 1985-1986 season, and was also named team Captain for the 'Hawks part of that season, when Darryl Sutter was out. In '91 he was named the Jets' captain.

In 2021 Murray announced that he was diagnosed with cancer in August of that year. He never disclosed, publicly, the specifics. Many of the 'Hawk players sported his name on the 'Hockey Fights Cancer' nights.

After he retired in 1997, Murray joined the Blackhawks' broadcast staff, and was studio analyst, and color analyst for radio or television until this season.

Remembering a hard working leader and knowledgeable broadcaster, that seemed to be a nice guy.

Never like seeing these threads. 63 is very young to pass. That’s why you should never take things for granted.

One story I read: Murray was usually assigned to shadow Gretzky. At some gathering (ASG or some such) Murray asked Gretzky for one of his sticks. He said "Wayne always said I was holding his stick so I figured I might as well just have one".
