Could see the Flames claim Douglas just as a big guy who can do dumb things if they think they will trade Lomberg.

He was a guy bandied about in the Markstrom trade threads but appears to be a bit of a AHL/NHL tweener.

NJ seems to be gearing up for some moves if they're slapping 3 players on waivers.

Holtz was a 7th overall pick, I bet he gets claimed
9 points in 28 games on the 3rd/4th line isn't bad
24 years old

Nope. Doesn't have the boots for the NHL game.
He has a shot. That's it.

Cap hit on Holtz is only 838k. Seems like a low risk, moderately low reward-type move.

Agree with dino. Holtz is worth a waiver claim IMO. A team like Calgary should be on it. He had 16 goals a few years ago on the Devils. His cap hit is low so teams like Calgary, Vancouver, Rangers, etc should put in a claim on him. Low risk, decent reward if he can get back to his game. He will probably go unclaimed but he should be claimed.

I had no idea that Dadonov played for NJ this year.

Did he ever fall off of the map.

Biggest contribution this year is costing Ottawa their first round pick.

For a team like the Flames that can't score goals, I think taking a free shot at Holtz seems like a no-brainer. It's not like we have a lot of forward prospects beating down the door to the NHL at the moment.
I'm not sold on him long term, but it's worth a try.

No doubt the Flames are familiar with Holtz after negotiating with the Devils in the Markstrom trade. I guess we will find out if they think there is something there.

Also significant bonus issues for cap reasons.

It seems to me the Flames kicked tires on Holtz in the past. Could be worth a claim especially if we're trading Coleman

Holtz has a 1.77 5v5 P/60, that's higher than any forward on the Flames. Kadri is at 1.76 P/60.

The roster limit is removed tomorrow, right? These teams hope to rid themselves of these players. No risk pickup by the Flames, IMO.

just need to rehabilitate his image enough to flip him to EDM or TOR next year at a profit
