Oil play a tough road division game, and steal two points from the LA Kings in the Staples Center. The top line of Vinny, Hossa and Morozov did the damage tonight as the trio combined for three goals. A very entertaining third period-produced thirty-two shots combined – eighteen of them fired at Brodeur. Who once again seems to give a little, but gets it done after sixty minutes.

Joel Andresen product of the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL continues to impress Oil scouts. Joel has a huge frame at 6'4" and uses it in a physical style of defense. He can add some points in the right situations, but mainly plays with a physical edge who will drop the gloves at times. Joel played seven minutes again tonight due to the injury to Brian Leetch and contributed with one shot and a +2 for the day.

Tomorrow night the Oil continue the road trip to include a trip to Boston and a game with the Bruins, then we head back to home to host the Islanders Wednesday night for our fourth game in as many nights.

The Ducks continue their winning ways by finding a way to win another game. This time around the Ducks beat the Sharks 4-3 in OT.

Next up are the Canadians tommorrow night. Both teams are fighting for a playoff berth and should prove to be an entertaining game. Make sure you get your tickets early for this game.

A game against the top team in the league should be circled on the calendar.
A game against a recent trading partner where ten players swapped jerseys, should be circled on the calendar.
A game against a commish, should be circled on the calendar,
A game against a 2 time league champion GM should be circled on the calendar.

It wasn't, sorry for missing it.

Despite an absent coach and GM, the gang put up good numbers, it came right down to a back-up goalie playing for the scond time in two nights, and a club which needed some tweaking but didn't get it. The new guys continued to put up good numbers, but this time Lehtonen could not shut the door. He did however, stop 33 shots. Unfortunately the Thrashers put 37 on net. Net result was a 4-3 loss.

JETS RUN WILD!

JETS 5 WILD 2!
Jets Record:
26-22(2)-6=60 pts—5th in the conference.

Jet Goals:

TJARNQVIST 4 (COOKE, THERIEN)
BARNES 13 (RECCHI)
COOKE 5 (TJARNQVIST, WALZ)
THERIEN 7 (CARNEY, BARNES)
TJARNQVIST 5 (COOKE, WALZ)

Positives:

What a night for the Jets third line! Matt Cooke and Wes Walz combined for 5 points. Thank you Bruins! The Jets also got 3 goals from their blue liners tonight, lead by Tjarnqvists pair. Rick DiPietro remained hot stopping 32 of 34 shots.

Negatives:

Not much to complain about.

Player of the Game:

Veteran defence man Dan Tjarnqvist is POW tonight. Dan had 2 goals and an assist to lead the Jets attack.

Turning Point:

Just under 2 minutes after the Wild took the lead at 2-1; Mark Recchi stripped the puck from Chris Tamer and walked in on a 2 on none with Stu Barnes. Recchi passed it over to Barnes who potted his 13th goal of the season. The goal sparked the Jets comeback as they went on to score 3 more goals on route to the win.

Up Next:

Rematch on Wednesday!

Storr Doesn't Do the Job

At times Jamie Storr has been the ideal back up this season for the Wild, coming in occasionally and providing adequate goaltending...giving his team a chance to win.

This was not one of those times

Storr was yanked against the Jets as the Wild lost 5-2 despite out shooting the boys from Winnipeg. However, all the brame cannot be assigned to the goaltender alone for the Wild offense continues to struggle.

Mats Sundin scored his 3rd goal in as many games for the Wild, and Milan Michalek added his 2nd career goal but the rest of the Wild forwards were invisible.
