Keaton Verhoeff is the top D, and probably by quite a bit right now.
Tynan Lawrence is right now the only Center who projects to go in the top 10.
Other intriguing names: Ivar Stenberg, Ryan Roobroeck, Viggo Bjorck, Ethan Belchetz.
Ryan Lin probably the second D, but he's a bit undersized, but has a lot of skill
it's a good top end. The main issue is a complete lack of centers at the top outside of Lawrence.

Is Lawrence comparable to Misa or will he go higher cause he is the only center?

It's so early in his season it's hard to say, but I'd say right now Misa was a better prospect in his draft year. And yes, I do think there's a chance he goes higher than he should if looking at it from a BPA point of view.
But that's why BPA has always been a myth. Centers ALWAYS go higher because it is a premium position that is more rare to find.
I think what will be more interesting is to see what other centers work their way into the top 10. Lawrence will be a fine pick near the top. But I could see a lot of centers with 3rd line potential going higher than they probably should as you get into the late single digits and early teens.

I should check out Tynan Lawrence' stats in the future. In my opinion, The Flames need a top super-star centerman.

What?
Ryan Roobroeck is projected between #2 and #7 currently.

I know he's listed as a center by some sites, but he's not. He's a wing.

Tynan Lawrence has yet to play a USHL game this season, due to an injury in training camp. He compares his game to Nick Suzuki because he's a good two-way player who is smart and makes players around him better- personally, I believe Ty is a bit more hard-nosed.

Also, many centres can move to the wing, whereas it’s way less wingers that become centres. D and Goalies (haha) tend not to play in a different position than the one they were drafted in. Centres can be Draisaitled to the wing.

It is still a bit early too, so the top 5 will have a shuffle. It is not outside of the realm of possibility to see a center or two ratchet up the draft this season.

It's no different than the draft thread we have here every year, posted every June. This is the 2026 one that OP wasn't aware of

Where does Alexander Karmanov project to go?

Some centers who are climbing the draft rankings:
-Caleb Malhotra (6'0",170lbs) 16 points in 10 games for Brantford of the OHL. He's really making scouts take notice.
-Yegor Shilov (6'1",181lbs) 19 points in 10 games for Victoriaville of the Q. Seems to be lurking around the second-round right now, but he's moving up.
-Oliver Suvanto (6'3",209lbs) 3 points in 14 Liiga games, turned heads at the Hlinka. Look for him in the late first.
-Beckham Edwards (6'1",181lbs) Power forward with 12 points in 10 games for Sarnia, should be picked in the late-teens, early twenties.
-Jack Hextall (6'0",185lbs) He reminds me a lot of Jack Murtagh, 6 goals and 11 points in 11 USHL games. Performed very well at the Hlinka, probably late first-round.
-Oscar Holmertz (6'0"192lbs) One of Sweden's best performers at the Hlinka, has 14 points in 11 U20 games. Looking like he'll go in the 20's.
-Lavr Gashilov (6'2",170) He's older, with a late September birthday, but has amassed 23 points in just 12 MHL games.
-Alexander Command (6'1",183lbs) 16 points in 10 U20 games.
-Noah Kosick (5'11",170lbs) Former Hitman has 15 points in 9 games with Speedy Creek.
-Brooks Rogowski (6'6",227lbs) Behemoth has 13 points in 13 games with Oshawa, and showed well in the Hlinka. Moves well for his size, and might go in the first-round.
-Carter Stevens (6'1",183lbs) Perfect hockey name, 12 points in 11 games with Guelph of the OHL.
-Thomas Vandenberg (5'11",170) 12 points in 10 games with Ottawa of the OHL.
-Cooper Williams (6'0",150lbs) Already a mature, detailed two-way C, he needs to show a bit more on the offensive side of the puck. 9 points in 10 games for Saskatoon, I really like this kid.
I will post more names soon...

I knew the name sounded familiar, so I looked him up; he's the defenseman who has been making headlines for being 7 feet tall, and 278 lbs. Not sure yet where scouts place him, and he's still playing in the GOJHL, with 4 points in 6 games.
I would keep an eye on him, he could be this year's Haoxi Wang- who was drafted with the first pick of the second round this past summer by the Sharks. They have very similar situations, IMO.

This is a great contribution. Thanks for the scoop on the early risers. Will keep an eye on some of those names.

I dunno, the Flames are 5 straight lose's and just thought "what-if" The Flames ended up in the top of the draft lottery. I wanted to know who are the top picks besides McKenna, and didn't want to read multiple pages in one sitting on the 2026 Draft thread.
Sorry for the double thread.
