Default The 2025/26 bold predictions thread

Let's hear em. Doesn't have to be Flames related.

Flames shock everyone and win the Pacific

The McDavid saga is a huge distraction and the Oilers miss the playoffs.

The Montreal Canadiens lead the Atlantic at the trade deadline and acquire Crosby. He leads them to Canada's first SC since the 93 Canadiens.

Flames end up with 2 top 10 draft picks
Anderson is traded very early in the season for a good return, he sucks for his new team and the return looks even better with time
Backlund ends up with 2 rookies/young guy on his wings and this rejuvenate him, he ends up getting some votes for the selke
McDavid does not sign an extension with the oilers and doesn't let them trade him
Marner stinks for Vegas
San Jose and Anaheim make the playoffs
Rangers do terribad this year
Buffalo trades a young star for next to nothing

Glad you went bold predictions and not hot-takes. Since few were able to post things meeting that qualification.

Huska wins coach of the year. diss approves.

Flames win the Western Conference then beats Montreal for the SC.
Anderson traded to the Dallas for Robertson
McDavid will not sign with the Oilers but will sign with the Maple Leafs for $22 million/year and the Coilers will suck even more!

Matvei Gridin scores 41 goals.

Wolf takes a big step back—allowing the Flames to pick up a huge piece with a high draft pick—before finding a consistent Vezina-nominee level in 2026-27 and beyond.

These are always fun.

Flames:
- Morgan Frost leads the team in points. Farabee hits 20.
- Jonathan Huberdeau scores <50 points including due to missing games due to injury
- Martin Pospisiil is traded during the season
- Yan Kuznetzov plays 30+ games for the Flames.
- The Flames finish bottom 5 and win the lottery to draft Gavin McKenna.

League wide:
- The Art Ross is won by a player who has never won it before
- Connor Bedard scores 50.
- Demidov fails to win the Calder. Zeve Buium wins it instead.
- The Habs and Sens both fail to make the post-season. Montreal fans turn on Slaf.
- The Rangers put up 100+ points and Shesterkin wins the Vezina

And the Oilers are no good .

  • The Flames don't score a PP goal for the first 12 games of the season
  • Zary, Andersson, and Coleman are all traded mid-season
  • Sharangovich leads the Flames with 35 goals
  • Wolf wins the Vezina
  • Both Cooley and Prosvetov play less than 10 NHL games combined this season
  • The 4th line becomes a massive strength for the Flames, and helps them win over 10 games
  • Coronato finishes the season with over 150 faceoffs taken, winning 52% of them

Flames:
- Flames do manage to maintain positivity throughout the season, however injuries pile up and as a result so do the losses
- Rasmus Andersson and Blake Coleman are traded before Christmas in a deal that is not strictly 'futures' based
- Flames do find a back-up goalie that fits in, and is promptly extended in-season
- Sharangovich is a regular healthy scratch
- Nazem Kadri and Martin Pospisil are traded at the NHL Trade Deadline in moves that are 'futures' based
- Flames do win the draft lottery after putting up their worst season, and just as the Oilers say goodbye to McDavid, Flames fans get to say hello to McKenna

League wide:
- Mitch Marner wins the Art Ross
- Connor McDavid gets traded in-season after the media chatter becomes overwhelming around Christmas time and the Oilers seem to be 'spinning their tires'
- Nazem Kadri rumours swirl like crazy as Toronto faces heat for not being gritty/not having an identity, Toronto pays a hefty price after losing out on McDavid
- Sidney Crosby is traded to Montreal in-season
- Anaheim and San Jose both hover around the Wild Card spots

- Parekh wins Calder trophy after putting up more than 15 goals.
- Gridin stays up the whole year and is a runner-up to the Calder.

Matt Coronato gets 3 hat tricks in the first half of the season

Huberdeau hits 80 points

Weegar, Andersson, and Pospisil all score goals in the Olympics. Canada medals, but not gold.

Zayne Parekh sticks with the club, but is a healthy scratch for 20+ games. Flames loan him to Team Canada for the World Juniors.

Flames end up with less points than last season, and miss the playoffs by 4 points. They still end the season with more points than two Eastern playoff teams.
