Pretty good for a guy with a career high of 24 points. I guess he's a top 6 winger on the Oilers though...bargain?

That doesn't seem like top 6 money these days.

He's not a bad player, reminds me of Calle Jarnkrok. Plays bigger than he is, good developing two way game etc. Likes to carry the puck but the finish or offensive game just isn't there. Think he'll be a valuable player on the bottom lines.

That's why I sarcastically said it was a bargain....I don't think Podkolzin is a top 6 player either. It was a dig at the Oilers' lack of winger depth. Fun fact, all of the Oilers wingers on their top lines combined for 69 points last season. Mangiapane leads them with 28 points last year.
I was also wrong before. Podkolzin had a 26 point season one time.

Some of my buddies who are Canuck fans hated that the Canucks lost this guy, feeling he never got a fair shake in Vancouver and could have been really solid, but have changed their opinion now that he's no longer a Canuck! He's always seemed like a bottom 6 guy to me.

They weren't willing to give Dylan Holloway 2.2M or whatever but this is supposedly a good contract?

Oilers gonna oil … lol.
Next we’ll see the Mangi 7x7 extension after he puts up record points in his first few games before his game disappears.

Hilarious! You know you've botched a negotiation when the other side immediately says yes, hangs up the phone, and bursts into laughter.
https://rg.org/news/hockey/podkolzin...nsion-reaction
“I thought the number would be lower,” Podkolzin admitted in an exclusive interview with RG. “Talks started about three weeks ago. They told me there was interest and that they wanted to sign me for multiple years. Usually when they say ‘multiple,’ it means three or more. After that, we had two more calls, and last night (Monday, Sept. 22) they phoned me for the final time. They asked me ‘yes or no,’ and I immediately said yes. It all came together pretty easily.”
...
We spoke with Vasily Podkolzin on the day he signed his new contract with @EdmontonOilers. The next day, his father passed away, and we postponed the publication for a few days #LetsGoOilers
