It's been a rough month for goalie legends, first Ken Dryden, then Ed Giacomin, and now Bernie Parent. Bernie was fantastic during the '74 and '75 Cup runs for the Flyers. RIP to a great goalie and person.
Never saw him play but back when Hockey Digest was a thing, they had an article about him once that got me interested in him. "Only the Lord saves more than Bernie" was a real thing in Philly.
RIP.

in my mind one of the greatest 'peaks' of any goaltender, at least in the post expansion era
Dryden, Giacomin and Parent were 3 of the 5 winningest goalies of the 1970s, so pretty stunning that they are all gone over the course of a few weeks. (Tony O of course died a few years ago, Vachon the only one of that top 5 group)

I was a Flyer's fan until the Flames came to down, and I remember a young 7 and 8 year old Captain Crunch cheering them onto the Stanley Cup. Yeah, I loved the Broad Street Bullies playing style, but at the time Parent was absolutely brilliant, one of the great really aggressive standup goalies. He made hard saves look easy, and easy saves look hard.
It sucked that his career was ended by an errant stick at a still young 34 years of age.

An old room mate of mines father played in the IHL in the nid 60's. In his junior days he roomed with Bernie Parent. Said many a time he had to cover for him because as he said, Bernie loved chasing the ladies.
RIP to a 2 time Vezina and Conn Smythe winner.

As a kid I think I cried when he stood on his head against my Bruins in the 74 final, In the last game they won 1-0 and he stopped over 30 shots and his posts stopped another 4 or 5, I hated him but man he was crazy good, especially the two years they won the cup.
