Icon23 Kylington signs PTO with Carolina

Really should've signed that deal with CGY when he had the chance

Agreed. He has never had the same opportunity since he decided to go. It's 100% on him, though.

He really flubbed his chance here. He had every opportunity to re-sign here but thought the grass was greener elsewhere. Sometimes, it's just better to play for the system you were developed in.

Canes could be a good fit for him. I'm rooting for him.

Not just re-sign, but the rumour was that they Flames offered him a one year deal for the same salary he made the year prior ($2.5 million). He ended up having to settle for $1.05 million last season and will be lucky to get a contract at or just above league minimum this season. Not just that, but Huska likely would have given him a lot of opportunity.

I am frankly surprised he is still trying to stick on a PTO rather than going to Europe. He has like 13 points in his last 5 years. Total. I wish him the best, and maybe he can beat out Mike Reilly for 7D, but it doesn't look great for him.

If he was smart with his money, he will never have to work again. Surely he will have KHL or European leagues lined up as well.

He had a personal situation that created immense complication on that front. I don't think this is the case for him right now.

I wish him luck. He's certainly talented. Long shot, but maybe he puts it together.

I doubt he settles for an AHL contract. He's be better off playing back in Sweden.

He blew through all his money and is broke now? How does stuff like this even get leaked.

I kind of think Bill was referring to the Mental Health issue that kept him off the ice for a very prolonged period of time.

I dont know what he's done with his money.

Killington kind of moved into Kulak territory for me. I don't mind if he has success, but I don't really care one way on another.

The Flames have plenty of players that need an audition on the bottom pair as is.

He gambled on himself and probably lost. But can’t blame him for trying.

I dunno man....that was a loooong bet.

He was off pro hockey for a long time, recovering from something very difficult, do you go with 'The Devil You Know' or swing for the fences?

It might have been more prudent to have staid put rather than double-down.

Bad agent advice? Maybe more to the behind the scenes story?

Not bad agent advice but Washington gave him a verbal offer prior to July 1st which was considerably better than Calgary's. But they withdrew it when they ended up with someone they wanted more than Kylington.

I dont know man and I dont pretend to know. It just seems like it would have been smarter to get his feet back under him before testing the market.
