NHL owners buys NBA team, sparking rumors of relocation to Portland, Oregon
Maybe this could work as an expansion market?

Bring back the Rosebuds.

The Hurricanes seem relatively stable in the Raleigh market.

Could Dundon flip the Hurricanes in exchange for an expansion team? Sure, unusual deals like that have happened.

Dundon is actually based out of Dallas, BTW.

The Trailblazers are also is due for a new facility.

Can't really see it happening but I wouldn't lose any sleep over Carolina being relocated. I think that's solely because their existence came at the cost of losing one of the best sports logos of all-time in the Whalers.


It would be fun though. Another team out west, and a geographical rival for Seattle. As far as expansions go though I can't see the league going for anything other than the biggest market possible.

I think expansion is more likely for Portland than relocation. But I understand the current arena is a dump.

They could be the Whalers again. Or, The Wailers.

If anything Dundon moves the NBA team to Raleigh. Creates a rivalry with Charlotte and gets more use out of that current arena.
