ick.
If they think Ehlers is going to help them not get bullied around in the playoffs, well...

Carolina with some weird moves this offseason, feels like Dundon isn't being as strict on the wallet as he usually is.
Ehlers, Miller, and Stankoven contracts are not the norm for them

Their downfall has been lack of a true gamebreaker. I don't think Ehlers is a gamebreaker but he adds 25-28 goals and 60 points which certainly won't hurt their cause. You can also argue he was a little underutilized in Winnipeg so maybe he has another level playing closer to 17-18 minutes per game.

Carolina is similar to New Jersey. They have some good offensive players but little defence and two way game. A lot of teams have this issue. They’ll likely be just the same this season.

Dreger suggested yesterday that the Canes were a likely destination. He indicated that Ehlers doesn't like the spotlight and would prefer to go to a market where he has some anonymity.

I disagree here, I think that Aho is a great two-way C, he's not far behind Barkov defensively. Slavin is among the best defensive defensemen in the league. Plus most of their game doesn't allow that many chances against. Carolina is always a lock to finish top 10 in GA, despite not having a star goalie.

Good for Carolina - they’ve rebounded nicely from the Rantanen spurn.
Any team that denies the Oilers a championship forever has a place in my heart.

Crazy good for Carolina. They have their entire roster done and 10 mil in cap space as well.

To me, Ehlers seems like a perfect fit for Carolina and their players. A better than average player and is talented, but doesn't have that next level, game-breaking talent.

Carolina needs an elite forward. Aho and Svechnikov just aren't at that level imo. They tried with Rantanen but obviously that didn't work out.

He'll be happy, he can get a coffee without being noticed; he can play for a team that is a contender.

Plenty of space to replace a Brent Burns with a Rasmus Andersson.

I agree wholeheartedly on those two guys. I just don't see it from the majority of the team.
