Mogilny, Thornton, Keith, Chara, Botterill and Decker to the HHOF
The Hockey Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that Alexander Mogilny, Joe Thornton, Duncan Keith, Zdeno Chara, Jennifer Botterill, and Brianna Decker in the player category, and Jack Parker and Daničle Sauvageau as builders, will be inducted into its hallowed halls in a ceremony in November.

Looks like the Keith not getting in was a bunch of hyperbole.

The bar seems to get lower every year.

I know he was a bit of an enigma but happy to see Mogilny make it to the HHOF.

How many years since Mogilny has retired?
BTW, is there a limit that after x number of years of retirement, you are no longer eligible for the hall of fame consideration?

Mogilny last played in 2006.
Players don't become ineligible; the selection committee of 18 people can nominate one person each year, and then they vote. So the longer you go without, the more likely you are to never make it because they can elect up to 4 in the men's category each year.

Mogilny should have been in a decade ago.
It's a bit ridiculous that it's taken this long.
Can't argue with any of the other three, among the very best of their era.

Was curious if Price would make it in in his first year of eligibility.

It's been low for a while. It's called the "Federko bar".

He was likely more important to the hawks 3 Stanley Cups than Kane and Toews. He also upped his play when the going got tough. And played mega minutes. He averaged over 31 minutes a game in SC #3.
Yes, it was hyperbole.

No Price is a bit of a joke. The bar for goaltenders is absurdly high. If Price played his entire career on say Pittsburgh he's probably talked about as one of the greatest goalies ever.

Kipper should be in the HOF if Price gets in.

Price is still on LTIR and technically not retired. I think that's the reason he is ineligible.

yeah I don't see a Federko, Gillies, Dick Duff or Kevin Lowe in this group
I'm not a huge Keith guy and don't like him in the top 100 over Iggy or whatnot but he has a HOF resume I think (starting with the 2 Norris, 3 cups)
