Oilers Draft Recap
#1: Matthew Schaefer: might have overpaid to get him but I wanted the thrill of picking at 1 and also feel like my team has millions of good secondary pieces but lack in the elite department. I’ve also historically been a team who moves down in the draft so felt like I could spend some assets to move up. Looking at his hockeydb, underwhelming point totals last year and didn’t play much this year, but scouts rave about this guy calling him an all around future number 1 dman, and he looked damn good in the world juniors. Dont expect him to play in the NHL next year so probably a few years before he makes an impact in the CPHL. Would kinda love if he fell to San Jose at 2 in real life but I think he’s landing spot proof. Considered going Misa but I’m not gonna pretend I’m smarter than the 90% of scouts taking Schaefer over him
