It's Makar's award, but Werenski had a really good year that deserves some recognition.

Hughes injury derailed it for him, but honestly I think Werenski does deserve to win.

When you consider how important he was to that team and how badly that market needs some good news, it sure would be nice to see him win this.

They will need to rename this award after Makar once his career is over. It is his to lose.

Feel like they really are at the point where they should have a separate award for offensive d-men. If you aren't putting up near a PPG, you really have no hope of being considered for the Norris. Not saying that Makar couldn't win both.

This award is actually the 2nd best defenseman award. Everyone knows Bouche is the greatest dman who ever lived, so it would be boring to auto-award it to him every year.

The Norris gives the 2nd best dman in the league a chance at recognition.

Boo-Boo graciously declines participation in the award voting to give the other fellers a chance.

Just wanted to note that MacKenzie Weegar was top 20 in scoring by a defenseman (tied 16th) despite being on a team that scored the 4th fewest goals in the league. A team leading +18 too. That's a minor miracle all things considered.

For reference, Kadri's 67 points barely puts him in the top 50 forwards. He was also -17.

Just saying, I love Weegar. He doesn't get enough recognition.

I believe you mean "Future Captain" MacKenzie Weegar. Next year should be Backlunds last year as "C" even he comes back on 1-year contracts.

He will guide Parekh to his own Norris win and he'll be on this list sooner than later

Hughes has no business on this list this season. Hockey press never fails to disappoint.

Injury dragged him down after the 4 nations, but until then, Quinn Hughes was absolutely dominant.

Not sure if he's fighting an injury but Makar needs to step it up against Dallas, he hasn't been very good so far.

That said the Norris is his

Makar deserved it. Happy to see him win again.

Superstars Evan Bouchard who was left off Canada comes in 11.

Everyone aged of him made their team.

Hughes looked like a lock earlier in the season, those missed games really hurt him.

Maybe, but I kind of doubt it... At this point Hughes is the better hockey player overall when healthy but Norris voting is often a lot about counting stats, and they'd likely have ended up pretty close in points but Makar scored 30 goals from the blue line, which has happened twice in 30 years. He probably wins regardless just for that.
