World Championships
Several Flames have been invited to the Worlds, including Parekh, so I figured it warranted a thread.
First, let's establish who's going...
Canada:
Parekh
Weegar
Kadri
Huska
USA:
Coronato withdrawn for health reasons
Sweden:
Andersson
Backlund
Czechia:
Vladar
Klapka
Slovakia
Honzek
other possibilities:
Backlund (SWE)
Pospisil (SVK)
Sharangovich? (no BLR team)
Klapka (CZE)
Wolf (USA)
Coleman (USA)
Farabee (USA)
Kadri (CAN)
Frost (CAN)

Slight derail but Canada lost to the USA at the women’s worlds today on what was quite likely the most braindead play I’ve ever seen in professional sports.

Anyways…go Canada and go flames players!

Didn’t Andersson play through a broken leg? How is he able to play in the World Championships?

his injury was 4 weeks ago; Worlds will be nearly 3 weeks from now. 7 weeks to fully heal a broken bone sound reasonable

Not good enough to make our junior team, but flash forward less than six months later and he’s good enough to “make” our senior team.
Okay Hockey Canada

They're doing it for two reasons:
1) to try and right a wrong by slapping some lipstick on it
2) in hopes that Parekh and/or Martone will say yes to the junior team this year, if invited
I am sure there is no actual consideration for keeping these guys on the WC roster

Yeah, I was surprised that he was invited. But that makes sense.

Considering the current available players from non-playoff teams, he should be the Captain

I'd give it to Weegar over Kadri without a second thought.

Came across this link on reddit to a Swedish media outlet reporting Backlund will be joining Sweden.
