Icon23 Canes sign Taylor Hall (3 yrs, $3.167M AAV)

I believe this is a first of a kind performance based NMC in the NHL

If Hall puts up less than 35 points in his 2nd year, his NMC in 3rd year becomes a 10 team NTC.

Clever and reasonable mechanism. I like it.

I wondered before if teams could do that. Makes sense and I bet we see more of that.

I haven't been following his play but he looked impactful in the latter part of last night's game.

I wonder where he stacks in the “number of times a number one overall pick has been traded”

Alex Daigle, Wendel Clark, and Mel Bridgman were all traded 4 times.
Joe Murphy was traded 3 times and claimed once in expansion.
Rob Ramage was traded 4 times, and claimed twice in expansion drafts

So Hall has him beat, traded 5 times, but if you include the expansion drafts Ramage is at 6.

Obviously not including free agent movement.

Those are the top ones I can find.
