I think Helleybuyck should win with his 47 wins (9 more than the next closest goalie) but I also don't think the Oilers make the playoffs without Draisaitl.

They don't make it without McDavid either.
Just as the Avs wouldn't be a playoff team without MacKinnon.
The voters love to spread the awards around. When was the last time there was a back to back winner for any of the major awards that are voted upon? The last time the Hart Trophy was won in consecutive years was Ovechkin, over 15 years ago. I don't think that anyone has ever won the Calder in back to back years either. But I am sure that Hellebuyck will win this year.

Pretty hard to be the best rookie two years in a row

Yeah, the NHL writers are dumb. They'll say "sure, he had 10 fewer points, but he played in 7 fewer games, so he actually scored more on a PPG basis!"
It's the dumbest argument and people constantly make it. If you miss games, you're hurting your team. It may not be your fault - can't help getting hurt or sick or whatever - but your team is inherently worse off without their best (or 2nd best in Draisaitl's case) player on the ice. If Draisaitl had played those extra games and scored 0 points in them, his case for MVP would be better even though his PPG would be worse.

Every single playoff team can say that about a player

Where are the Jets without Helleybuyck in the regular season? Or Lighting without Kucherov? I think you can say that for a lot of teams without their best players. Draisaitl was the league's only 50 goal scorer so I can't really argue about him being top 3. His is 21.7% shooting percentage in particular is very impressive when you consider volume of shots.

There's pretty good evidence of what the Wild are like with and then without Kaprisov.

I'm conflicted here, not sure I'd rather see pissy or McDiver. I hate McDiver but I think I hate Pissy more. Every time I see Pissy picture, I wants to punch him so badly.

McMickey is annoying because he has the personality of a broom and plays for Edmonton.
“drais” is just a piece of crap.
