Default Kraken deal Marchment to Blue Jackets for 2nd + 4th

Trades!

https://twitter.com/user/status/2002241032184885741

Unlike the LA trade, this seems like the Kraken selling off.

Return is a 2027 2nd round pick and 2026 4th round pick.

Marchment was just traded from Dallas to Seattle in the off-season for a 3rd and a 4th.

I suspect a Coleman deal would look very similar.

Coleman is better than Marchment. Coleman is who Marchment hopes he grows up to be IMO

I’d be rather cheesed if the Flames traded Coleman for a 2nd and 4th just now.

Or the opposite, if we acquired Marchment for 2nd and 4th. I'd be a little annoyed if I was a Jackets fan to be honest. They are a bottom 10 team right now and trading picks for underachieving veterans. They are in 25th wedged between Buffalo and St. Louis.

Coleman gets a late first at the deadline no question.

I like the trade for the Krakens. Marchment wasn't really doing much.

I really hope this happens but it rarely happens for wingers to return 1st round picks these days. We’ll see. He is coveted by a lot of teams because he plays what most coaches would consider “perfect hockey.”

Brad Marchant returned a conditional 2nd (that ended up being a first since conditions were made ) with 50% retained last season

I think that is similar to what Flames could get .

The Kraken are so good, they made trades like this last year too. They are going to be an absolute powerhouse very soon. Meanwhile we have Conroy just waiting around to have his price met for his players.

If this is the type of an offer the Flames are receiving for Coleman, I’m holding, for now.

If he was a pending UFA, maybe. Right now the Flames have some leverage and should be utilizing that.

Especially if they retain.

Lol at the Blue jackets trading draft picks for a 30 year old pending UFA.

They're tied for last place in the east and have the worst goal differential in the east as well.

yeah I have no idea what the BJs are doing here. This kind of deal makes no sense for them and where they are.

I dunno, kind of disagree.

They need to start putting some winning/playoff seasons together here or they run the risk of having a Quinn Hughes situation happen with Werenski.

Where would that leave them then?

I know a lot of people think teams such as the Flames look at the Sabres and say ‘we are not going to be like them’ but I’d bet the Blue Jackets are another team they look at and say the exact same thing. At some point you have to plant your flag and go for it. I’d say this move indicates they think they can still make it.
