Why Zayne is the perfect fit for the Flames
#1. None of our D are good at quarterbacking the PP AT ALL. Very uncreative and pedestrian plays by Andersson and Weegar.
#2. None of our D are that good at walking the line. Weegar tries sometimes but often screws it up.
#3. The flames use the point for offence like crazy. (We just don't get any offence) We often have our forwards grind it down low and then just go back to our D. Often nothing comes of it. All those opportunities where the D get to handle the puck, think about Parekh having all those opportunities.
#4. We have no offence.
This is feeling like a perfect match, a match made in heaven. GET THAT BOY ON THE ICE!
I'm thinking of the combos like Huberdeau to Parekh, and Parekh to Coronato etc..

Excited about the future with him being on our back end for years to come.
And if somehow Makar comes home? Oh man
In the short term our power play can really use his skillset

This. Exactly this. You even see it the attempts at zone entries. Neither Andersson or Weegar are a threat to carry the puck in. Teams cheat the bump back often but neither Weegar or Andersson take advantage and carry the puck in themselves in those cases. It often leads to giveaways or poor passes on the bump back so the two forwards behind have little speed with the puck.
Just give him a shot. He’s a confident kid with incredible skill. He may surprise some people and be a big contributor to the offence - especially on the powerplay.

We got lucky, I think. I was cool with Buium as well, but Zayne I think is just a better fit. 107 points this year is.......silly.

Flames air dropped a Parekh for game day
Huska: Nah
Flames PP that night: 0/6 and a compete dumpster fire.
Hopefully we've gained some perspective from today. If not, we probably deserve to miss the playoffs.

Yeah he should have probably been in tonight.
I doubt the PP is 0-6 tonight if he's in the lineup and getting PP time.

Yup you're right, #5 Zone entries.. Hughes and Makar rock at that and make a BIG difference.

What a shift. Total 180. He should’ve played in tonight’s game.

I think you have to play him.
It's probably unlikely Frost plays next game.
Huberdeau-Kadri-Klapka
Coleman-Backlund-Coronato
Farabee-Sharangovich-Pospisil
Lomberg-Rooney-rotation
Bahl-Andersson
Hanley-Weegar
Bean-Pachal
Parekh
PP1:
Coronato-Kadri-Huberdeau
Parekh-Weegar
He is basically sheltered in every conceivable way since Weegar is also on PP.
We'll just have to play Sharangovich, Pospisil and Farabee more to cover the missing 8-10 mins on the 4th line.

Because we have almost no scoring talent. And he has talent. That is reason enough.

Why do people seem to think Makar will be a Flame one day?
Because he’s from here and was a fan as a kid?
Seems to be a thing on CP.
Has he ever said anything?

He's part of the return of offensively orientated defencemen. In the mid 90s, these guys were removed from the game, as only large physical shut down d-men were acceptable. The obstruction rules changed, and then players like Karlsson were pioneers for bringing these guys back. Players like Hughes showed conclusively that there was a place for mobile and primarily offensively orientated d-men in the modern NHL and that these players could be under-sized but still effective.
So yes, we need a Zayne. He fills a position the Flames haven't even tried to fill. A truly effective point man could transform our offence and increase scoring across the board. For example, Hughes has a career high of 17 goals. His game is setting up other players to score.
