Habs a darkhorse in the East??
I think they have a good chance vs the Caps in round 1 (even without Demidov).

A lot easier to shelter a forward, especially when they’re pretty locked into a playoff spot already

He led his team in scoring in a league that is arguably the 2nd best in the world and full of players in 20s and 30s. He is objectively the best NHL drafted prospect, so I think Huska would absolutely play him.

They were making a joke the Huska doesn't play young players despite mountains of evidence to the contrary

You had the first part right, but it wasn't meant as a cynical joke on my end. Sarcastic, sure.

So are picks that are signed from the KHL like NCAA, where the player just has to show up to burn a year, or would it be like the CHL players where they have the 10 games before burning that first year?

This is amazing news. Habs have 1.5 good lines, his skill will show immediate dividends.

Yeah but they're definitely not going to make one of their forwards who battled in this war to the playoffs sit for him, right?

Montreal is pretty much already a lock for 8th and is unlikely to move up or down. If they beat Detroit today in regulation, they really have nothing to lose. Detroit would have to win out the rest of the season, and Montreal would have to lose out.
By the time Demidov is in the line-up, I bet Montreal will be clinched.
