Previous Game

News Roundup

Why was Flames netminder Dustin Wolf pulled after the second period in Toronto?

Monday night’s game between the Calgary Flames and the Toronto Maple Leafs was Dustin Wolf’s 57th National Hockey League start. For the first time, Wolf did not finish the game.
After allowing five goals on 26 shots – three of those goals on the power play – Wolf was replaced by backup Dan Vladar for the third period against the Leafs. The Flames ended up losing the game by a 6-2 score.

So, this one is actually winnable! Zary back in and hopefully motivated to make up for what was an enormous costly mistake on his part.

I hated missing the game yesterday because I canceled Prime, but was probably a good one to miss. Looking forward to a bounce back today. Go Flames!

I certainly can't disagree with a single one of those media tweets (X's?).

Flames have hit a wall. Their plucky effort just isn't enough anymore, and other teams are starting to outwork them. That's the only thing they had this year, work ethic and structure. Now? Not sure what they have left that's working for them. Even their defensive structure is getting regularly exposed. It didn't feel like that earlier in the year.

Lose out for all I care. Playoffs are unlikely, and we are actually incentivized to drop into the bottom 10 with the conditions on the 1st round pick. No point in being anywhere in between those two positions.

It really sucks that we didn't tank all year to guarantee a great pick.

But it's better to start now than finish 15th like every other year.

I'm not sure what they change to tank on purpose. Care to explain?

There was no way for us to tank with Wolf. I'm just saying it's a crappy situation, not that it could have been changed.

If we had league average goaltending all year, we are sitting right there with the Sharks in the standings. Wolf is our entire team.

They've left themselves no choice but to have to string wins together. Good luck boys.

I hear you there. Hanley started as our 8 D and is now in the top 4. Pachal, Hanley and Miromanov were warm bodies thrown into trades or picked up on waivers (and I generally don't mind Pachal as a 6) but they were not set up to compete and they did not trade draft picks for help on D either. It has been a fun season to watch a hard working team compete and the wheels have seemingly fallen off a lot later than we expected. I always said before the season that if Wolf is the real deal he will impede a tear it down tank.

With Zary back tonight, it will be interesting to see where they put him. I would like to see him take sharagovich center spot. The problem is I don’t know if flames management or coaching staff see him as a center.

Pretty much a must win game for confidence.

Zary was just sticking up for his fellow player. This crap about him making a mistake is just that; crap. Other players have done much worse and only served the 2 minutes. With regard to his contribution lately; he's been bounced all over the lineup, no consistent line mates so what do we expect. Huska throws him out there and expects him to carry a line. Maybe it's time to criticize the vets who are doing nothing.

JT Willer has turned it around in NY 18 pts in 18GP.

A team that can hardly score vs one of the best goalies. SHould be interesting.
