Default NHL officials to get Apple Watches

https://www.theverge.com/news/621004...les-smartwatch

I also wonder why they don't have mics like football or soccer ref have.

I think they do - or at least they used to - they just generally are terrible at using them.

I wonder how long it is before a ref gets smoked while looking at his watch

My favourite is the Goal-Line Tech in Soccer.

The players think the ball went in for a goal, but if the Ref's watch doesnt go off then the ball didn't fully cross the line and he waves it off.

No muss, no fuss, he just taps the watch, shrugs his shoulders, indicates no goal. No complaining, no video review, the game just goes on.

Will the watches have the rule book downloaded onto it? They clearly don't know most of them.

Goaltender interference is why Billy Smith of the New york Islanders used to SNAP and 2 hand MFers behind fhe knees as reference .

Also known as why that goal didnt count because someone was in the bluepaint.

Certain goalies become violent suddenly when interfered with.

Curtis Joseph once attacked a referee knocking him down accidentally when this occured

Tim Thomas and Tuuka Rask however were always cool and calm as were Mike Vernon and Patrick Roy when fhey met at ceter ice to dance a ballet.

Maybe not goalie interference but enjoyable to watch nonetheless.

I don't see the point. You do your job and when the buzzer goes you can take it easy. This just enables more game management. Why would a ref need to know how much time is left?

Is there an app that will zap refs when they miss a call?

I’ve always thought people who use Apple Watches look like power rangers talking on their communicators.
