Should the Calgary Flames trade for Mikko Rantanen or stay the course?

Mikko Rantanen is rumoured to be on the move again ahead of the trade deadline. Rantanen was traded from the Colorado Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes just over a month ago. However, there is speculation about his future as a Cane. Do the Flames have a chance of landing the 28-year-old or should they avoid a possible misstep in their rebuild?

The Calgary Flames are almost always “in the mix” when a highly touted player becomes available.

The Frost line has had some of the most sexy creative chances that just looked like bad luck to not go in; that said, both Sharangovich and Farabee need to provide quantifiable offence to justify their spots in the lineup and neither are producing jack. I’m happy to give Frost a pass because he’s winning faceoffs, getting zone entries on the PP, and the most physically engaged to my eye. I didn’t think the Flames were bad in Tampa they just have a tough time finishing chances. Hopefully the hockey gods are smiling on the Flames this afternoon and they can build on the confidence the Washington game should’ve given them. Go Flames Go!
