News Roundup
Prospect signing season is just round the corner
Friends, the hockey calendar has many milestones built into it – dates that have added significance for specific purposes.
March is notable for the annual NHL trade deadline, which falls on Friday, Mar. 7 this year. However, Mar. 1 is another date of some importance: it’s the first day that teams can sign players to contracts that don’t kick in until next season.

With just more than four weeks until the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline on March 7, we’re delivering at least one deadline-focused story every day at Daily Faceoff.
Today, we explore potential destinations for a player who could be moved at the deadline a second consecutive year: Casey Mittelstadt, who landed at No. 5 on Frank Seravalli’s Trade Targets board earlier this week.
4 Nations Face-Off team preview: Finland
4 Nations Face-Off team preview: Finland
While Canada and the United States might have all the skill, and Sweden has tremendous defensive depth, Finland isn’t exceptional in just about any category.
But that’s kind of their thing. Regardless of event, the Finns continue to find ways to compete for championships despite never having the deepest or most talented roster around.
Emotions boil over for Flames following uncharacteristic mistakes vs. Maple Leafs
Late in a second period in which two Calgary Flames breakdowns allowed the high-powered Toronto Maple Leafs to break a close game wide open, Rasmus Andersson skated back to the Flames bench with a message.
Typically saving his death stare for opposing fans, he instead had some very pointed feelings he wanted to share with the forwards who sit a few feet over on his bench.
The Flames need to figure out their fourth line
For the Calgary Flames, the club’s depth units have been anchored by two players. The third defensive pairing has been almost exclusively the territory of Brayden Pachal (and a few different defensive partners). And the fourth line has primarily featured Ryan Lomberg… and a bunch of other players.
Unexpected Flames Success More Of The Mushy Middle, Or A Thrilling Fan Experience?
It was supposed to be a rebuild, with the excitement for Calgary Flames fans more likely to come at the NHL trade deadline than the final weeks of the playoff race.
Instead, they're back in the mushy middle. lingering in the mid where the draft pick is to low to be a lock and the post-season is a lottery ticket — a standard they've set for the better part of four decades.
Martin Pospisil has hit the sophomore slump
Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil has found himself trudging through the infamous “sophomore slump.” His lack of consistent production has caused him to bounce around the lineup and not have a permanent home. Could the lack of production be a cause for concern or is this part of the development ride?

Unlike the last game, this isn't a scheduled loss. Wont be easy though but come on. If those lousy Canucks can beat the Avs, this team absolutely can!

Per the Flames tradition of slumpbusting, there is a good chance the Avs could break their slump tonight.
Hopefully the Flames win, but tradition is tradition

This is a huge game for the Flames given the standings. Wolf needs to be spot on and hopefully Solo can bring some stability to that bottom left side. GFG

Need some Ws here coming up. Demko is back, Miller is gone. Canucks will surely get a bump here so Flames need to pick it up.
Pray that Zary has a miracle recovery and comes back ASAP.

Huska hasn't played a callup in the first game called up at any point this season.

Familiar with the system, kills penalties, present personnel failing, I don't see the issue or the risk but yeah you're right. Thats how its been. Unfortunate in this case IMO
Heck even yesterday in an interview Huska was singing his praises. And if he doesn't get in tonight its one game until the break.
I'm riled up lol

Time to start winning some games.
They aren’t going to moral victory their way into the playoffs.

As much as I am not a Huska fan I can't believe he would make such a stupid call to play Miro over Solo. Let's wait to see what the actual lineup is.
