Shrinking - AppleTV+
Again, good to have some show specific threads for the people who want to split it out.
This show is top notch. Same creators as Ted Lasso, and people compare them. Personally I think it's a good level better. Probably just because it's more relatable/accessible without the football. The characters have a slight bit of zaniness and it hits you with a little raunch now and then to keep it feeling real. Basically it's just well-written, well-performed, easy to digest.
Definitely recommend people check it out if they already have.

Just watched the latest episode and without getting into spoilers, Ted McGinley really played a great long game being mostly a pretty goofy character to the point where you're not really sure if he feels real or not and then just had such a strong earnest scene when something real actually happens for him.
Every performance in the show is great, really.

Not sure I’d call a show about wealthy Angelinos that relatable.
Just finished and enjoyed season 1. Didn’t think it was going to have such a happy ending and knew there had to be a twist coming.
Love the main premise with Jimmy going rogue at work and the relationships with his daughter, mentor, and neighbour. Some of the other characters and sub plots don’t do much for me.

I said MORE relatable /accessible than Ted Lasso, a show about an American Football coach managing a professional soccer team in Europe.

I tried the first season and just couldn't get into it after something like 4-6 episodes. Oh well.

Almost done season 1. It’s quite good. A little bit Afterlife, Bob Newhart Show and Ted Lasso. Not as good as Ted Lasso, but actually funnier. Not as many characters, so everyone intersects with each other.
I think a real psychologist would get disciplined for having a patient move in? Seems highly unethical.
The show is good at showing what marriages can be like. I think patients struggling with severe depression would come across much darker than the patients on this show.

I've been watching the first season and starting the second season. Harrison Ford looks like and old frail dude. I like most of the characters.
I find the dialogue to be phony and unrealistic.

Yeah that scene was pretty shattering and really well performed by him.

This critique is often tossed around with Sorkin-like shows where the characters are far more clever than is reasonable. For me though, that's exactly what I like about them. I don't want my shows to sound too much like regular people, because regular people aren't always that interesting. Perhaps that's not your specific problem with the dialogue though.

It's good.
Is it great, no.
Is it fun, yeah.
Is it "Must See TV", not for me.

Couldn't get through the last season of Ted Lasso, but loved the first season. Might give it a go sometime. Don't have Apple+ at the moment.

Well I'd say I'm a little disappointed with season 2. I went searching for the new episode and realized last week's was the finale I guess. Kind of a bummer way to end it. I dunno just overall didn't find the show as enjoyable. Maybe the 1st season felt more focused on Jimmy and the practice with his patients and this season really became quite disconnected from that and went more into the character's lives outside of that (the side characters mostly) which provided some nice moments but ultimately the show felt kinda lost in my opinion. Also not sure I enjoy Goldstein as an actor. He's good as Roy Kent, but in this I don't really find him appealing. Apparently they're doing a 3rd and that's probably it, which is fine. Not many shows have legs beyond that.
