I wouldn't be upset if that was Vladar's last game as a Flame.

Yeah it was a tough spot but its time to give Cooley a shot and find out if he can be a quality backup

Bah, pretty much a schedule loss. Short turn around, Bahl's injury, emotional game last night. Didn't really have high hopes.
Onto the next.

They won't do anything before the 4 Nations, especially with Cooley just getting back from injury.

Vladar looked weak on a couple for sure. I hated his flop on the Scheifele goal.
Also...
Miromanov on that opening goal was hot garbage as a defenseman. Bishop didn't help much either.
Rooney and Lomberg had some very passive defense at times, especially on the Vilardi shot down the weak side wing. Vladar also bad on that one.
Hated that power play goal where Vilardi literally had a full second+ to make his move directly in front of Vladar while Weegar and Pachal did nothing standing right next to him.
Tired team on the road against a really good team? Sure. But they also played pretty bad, especially the usual suspects that are in the doghouse.

Tough game for a B2B. Injuries starting to pile up and a goalie who just had his confidence absolutely shattered tonight.
I actually would not be surprised if the Flames made some moves before the 4 nations break. It's a home stand all the way through to it I believe. Perfect time to situate and new players coming in (via the farm or elsewhere).

Fun experience at the rink tonight, honestly. I quite like the arena here. Fans were nice. I'm a sucker for smaller venues so this one was right up my alley. Highly recommend it.

Pretty much this. Tough traveling back to back against two of the top teams in the league this season. Be happy with the split and don't make a decision based on how this short road trip went.
Now we have a pretty easy 6 homes in the next 7 with some tough teams but home ice advantage (and lots of Wolf) will work to the Flames advantage.

I've seen him play a couple Wranglers games and I was pretty impressed.

Cooley would be another elite personality to add to their core of elite personalities in the room.
On top of the goaltending and whatever.

Maybe a couple soft goals on Vladar but as has been said many times this season, you're not going to win many if you only score two goals. Taking penalties while trailing in the third period doesn't help the cause.
Vladdy is capable of playing lights out so I'm not giving up on him.

Vladar let in 5 goals with an xGA of just over 2. The team was garbage defensively (not unexpected, playing B2B and missing half of the top pairing), and the 4th line was way underwater, but despite that, xGA were around 2, so Vladar was the biggest contributor to the loss. I don't know is he's injured again or what, but he doesn't currently look like an NHL-calibre goaltender.

Six home games, plus one scheduled loss in Seattle, 23 hours after hosting Detroit.
The good news is that Wolf can - and probably will - play all 6 home games and Vladar will likely get the guaranteed loss in SEA.
The home games: WSH, ANA, DET, TOR, COL, SEA

Flames need some scoring help. It’s not coming from the farm. Zary will help but he won’t be enough. Kuzmenko has been playing better the last handful of games. But Sharangovich is still MIA.
They have a good team when everyone is healthy. They haven’t fluked their way into their current position. But they need some help.

The team hasn’t done Vladar any favours this season. But he looks like he has lost all of his confidence.

Minnesota was the one I thought was winnable. I gave the Flames a 0% chance of winning this game. They did better than I thought they would do.
Regroup and beat the Caps.

That was a hockey loss. 82 games in a season you can't win them all. Some help from any position would go a long way.
Going 1-1 against one of the best teams in the league in one week is a decent take away! GFG
