Not a doctor but I assumed it wasn't a fracture because of the pain he was experiencing. Usually, shock sets in from a fracture and you don't react the way.

These injuries seem to always be caused by a nothing player on a nothing team.

Wills said suspensions should be handed out. Anyone else think so?

Brutal....horrible for the team and Zary. He just seemed to be developing into something big...and this. Hopefully, it's nothing big and just a sprain. Obviously good news that there are no broken bones.

bang bang play but agreed on the comment that its always some nobody (or Gio as Flames talk pointed out lol).

Low IQ play where a kid without experience just reacts to whats in front of him. Sucked but not any malicious intent. Just dumb.

Didn't Zary have some serious sort of injury when he was with Stockton?

I think it was a fractured ankle.

Broken Ankle 1st training camp happened during a preseason game. Was tracking to make the team that year too. Edit: September 20th against the Oilers in preseason. Blocking a shot.

When I watch the replays, I can't tell if it was dirty or not. At the exact moment when their legs connected, it didn't look like the other player extended his knee. But then when you see the way he kicked his leg out after, it looks bad. But I don't know if that was just because of momentum and balance shifting. I have never experienced that kind of of situation, so I personally wouldn't be qualified to judge. I assume the people in charge of player safety and making the call will have the experience to know better than I do.

I tend to think because the refs reviewed it and still called it a major and game misconduct, that player safety will see it the same way and a suspension will come down. The player didn't seem to protest when he was kicked out making me think he felt guilty.

Legs injuries can be a concern when flying, some compression can help for some injuries or getting up frequently for others. Zary would be advised by a physician regarding sitting, sleeping or travel. Hard to say if him travelling or not travelling are indicative of the injury but can tell a bit about what treatment has been provided.

Not a doctor either, but a family member recently broke a leg while in the states and the insurance was complicated - he had to stay in the US for about four months before he could leave.

I don't know if it was intentional, but it was reckless and dumb. Anaheim player clearly going into the hit with his knee forward and then makes a small move into Zary immediately before the hit.

as much as I hate this, I'm looking forward to Kerins getting a shot. 6th rounder, spent his first pro season in the ECHL, worked his ass off to make it. Lots of resilience. Impossible not to love these kinds of stories.

Just wish it didn't come on the back of a potential long-term injury for Zary.

Best case he has 2nd degree sprain. 6-8 weeks. By his reaction I would guess torn ligaments and surgery with a long rehab.

Sucks but hopefully he will be good to go for camp next year.

By luck, my girlfriend had ACL surgery in Toronto (fell playing tennis) and the surgeon who operated on her is the same guy who looks after the Leafs and Blue Jays. I met him. Great guy. Wish Zary could see him.

Her rehab has been good but Zary's injury might be worse.

I think the Anaheim announce team should be suspended for their commentating during and after this hit. Brutal.
