Flames Quarter Century Whipping Boys (2000-2025)

The best of the century got me thinking: who are the worst Flames over the last 25 years?

Not worst talent wise, not guys who did their best but just weren’t cut out for the show, but the guys who you just loved to hate, were (fairly or unfairly) the most maligned to dawn the red and yellow and white (and black), or ones you look back on and just cringe at their name.

All in good fun. I’m sure (some of them) are great people who did their best.

Here’s my shot at it.

First team:
Bertuzzi-Drury-Neal
Eriksson-Wideman
Smith

Second team:
Brouwer-Jokinen-Bourque
Butler-Hamonic
Elliott

I'd throw in Butler over Wideman on the first team. And Grossman even though it was a short stint (I think Wideman had his moments and shouldn't be on there at all).

And Brouwer is a first team all star in my eyes too over Bertuzzi. I thought we liked Bertuzzi as a player other than the idea of signing him in the first place. He had a good year. What about Amonte, never seen a player hit more posts?

No way! Lombardi was awesome. Perfect 3rd line player who chipped in points who could move into a scoring role when needed. His speed was missed when we traded him.

That’s kind of what I was hoping for with this thread. A mix of yuck and guys who were frustrating for totally different reasons.
