Flames 4 Wild 2
Flames 4 Wild 2
Late and brief as I didn't get to the game until late last night.
- Flames dominant throughout
- Support characters with big nights
- Flames move to within three points of a playoff spot

That's not the first time you've referred to Lomberg as "Adam". I thought it was an error before, now I think I'm missing a reference.

Dome was super classy last night.
Millen, Shero, Lombo and Fleury ovations. Bonus credit for Huby who insisted we stand for Lombo. And you could tell Lombo was touched.
Crowd kicked out a rowdy who chucked beer on ice. It was a great night.

Gustavsson getting pulled with 12 minutes left in the game was puzzling.
He was obviously po'd. Understandably.
I also noticed that Hynes went over to talk to him right away and Gustavsson seemed to settle down.
I wonder if Hynes wanted to give Fleury some time in goal so that the fans could see him one last time in Calgary. Just a thought....maybe overthinking.
With the exception of one goal, I dont think Gustavsson played that poorly.

I assume they want him again tonight and were offering a reset (that he didn't welcome)

There were tons of Fleury 29 jerseys at the game last night. Probably not a bad thought.

I dont think anything Hynes was doing was for the fans. He is focused on winning games.

Four points. There is no scenario under which the Flames achieve three points and make the playoffs.

The team showed up and looked as good in the first 32 minutes of the game as they have all season in a must win game against a team that could cement their place in the playoffs with a win. Even when the Wild pushed back and had the puck they did a good job of keeping it to the outside and away from danger.
As you note the Flames actually have played well down the stretch here essentially upping their pace from 91 to 93 over the last 12 games or so which is harder to do than I think most would appreciate. But that 12 game winning streak by the Blues really moved the goal posts. Unlike some past Flames teams who did fade at the end of the year, this one didn't. You can fault the talent of the team, but not the resolve and effort that they give.

Never thought we would be going into the final week still with a shot at playoffs.
Meaningful games all year. Good to see.

Technically within 4 points of a playoff spot.
A tie doesn't get us in.
