No Young Stars Tournament in Penticton in 2025
well this sucks - no young stars in penticton next year
my kids loved getting to see "the flames" play... and miss a little school!

Hockey fans in the South Okanagan won’t be happy to hear the news announced by the Vancouver Canucks today.
The annual Young Stars Classic in Penticton is no more, at least for now, after the Canucks and Seattle Kraken entered into a multi-year agreement for an annual prospect showcase between the two franchises.
It will begin in September 2025 with two games in Seattle, with additional games in Abbotsford planned for the fall of 2026.
Sadly, this means there will be no Young Stars Classic in Penticton in 2025, and likely 2026, but Canucks president Jim Rutherford didn’t close the door on future events in the Okanagan.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to secure commitments from the other teams for next fall, so regrettably, we will not be hosting a Penticton Young Stars Classic in 2025,” Rutherford explained.

Terrible decision. Having a western Canadian prospects tournament was always a fun way to kick off the new season

I suspect we'll get the Flames-Oilers-Jets in Red Deer/Lethbridge/Medicine Hat instead. Not as fun for the folks who like to make the trip, but I'm sure they'll still do something.

Flames and Oilers can still play a couple games and just alternate cities year to year same as Vancouver/seattle.

Calgary can play the winners of the Seattle/Vancouver series.
The Oilers prospects can be the between-periods entertainment (like the little tykes do at Flames games).

I bet it was the oilers, their roster last year was 90% undrafted fa. After trading their 1st this year they probably don't have enough prospects to field a team.

Gah this sucks. Really looked forward to that weekend. Maybe Flames/Oilers/Jets can pull something together in Canmore or somewhere “resort-ish”. But it won’t be the same.
