Preview: Blues at Flames

The St. Louis Blues (12-12-2) are coming off a dominant 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night, their first win over the Jets since March 2023.

5 Things - Flames vs. Blues

Know Your Enemy

The Blues come to town for the second chapter in their Western Canadian road swing having scored a 4-1 win in Winnipeg two nights ago.

St. Louis now sits 3-0-1 under new head coach Jim Montgomery - who goes in search of his second victory against the Flames this season, having already posted a 4-3 overtime triumph while with the Boston Bruins just under a month ago.

Pelletier Back With Flames With Opportunity Knocking

The Calgary Flames need an injection of offense, and the hope is popular winger Jakob Pelletier can offer that after a productive AHL season so far.

It doesn't hurt that Pelletier is also known for his uplifting spirit, which is another element the Flames are in need of..

Jeff Marek thinks the Maple Leafs will make a pitch for Nazem Kadri this season

The chatter that simply refuses to die down is the linkage between Toronto and former Maple Leafs centre – and current Calgary Flame – Nazem Kadri. The initial seed for the conversation seems to have been a mention from Doug MacLean on Real Kyper and Bourne a couple weeks back, but we keep hearing about the possibility because, well, the fit makes sense.

The Blues are usually such a tough team to beat for the Flames, but it seems at Christmas or around this time the Flames work some magic. Predicting a win tonight! Though probably a nail biter.

So does Kuzmenko get another day off or is Duehr taking a seat?

Sounds like the Blues are on a roll so it should be quite a test for the Flames.

I think Kuzmenko, Duehr and Pelletier should be put on a rotation. Possibly Sharangovich as well. I think Kuzmenko and Sharangovich are the biggest under performers.

I have no idea what to expect from this game.

I dont know about the Flames, but I'm still exhausted from that Columbus game and I watched it on a couch.

Not a huge Duehr fan, but two PP goals last game, Kuz should sit again.

What? Sharangovich is our best pure goal scorer and had been heating up lately. No way you rotate him out.

Were you on the couch in a slouch ?

That could cause fatigue...

Dr. Seuss always promoted good posture.

Blues just had a few days off here before the Winnipeg game. So Montgomery had a bit of practice time get get the team more familiar with his system. So likely another game where it will be a slog for the Flames to get to 3 goals.

He also gets the excuse of an abbreviated training camp. He'll be fine. He is useful even when not scoring. Kuzmenko floats, back checks when he feels like it and has zero idea what to do with the puck right now. Hopefully, the press box treatment wakes something up in him. He's great to watch when he's on!

Absorb the shot or deflect to the corners.
