Alright, I'll do it.

Nightmarish road trip. Glad that's over.

Turned the channel at 5-0, just saw we scored two lol, of course it was Kadri and Huberdeau.

Better to lose now than in February. Now management/ownership knows the team isn't competitive now and we need to sell for futures. It serves no purpose to hang into anyone with one foot out the door.

It’s odd you would complain about the guys who actually scored.

Don't worry. They will come back home and win out. It is the way.

I don’t think Conroy had any intention of holding on to any player who wanted out.

Now, the recent play of the flames may change the timing of an Andersson trade.

Kadri’s play this year and his contract may make him immovable even if he would waive.

Huberdeau, nuff said.

Vladar’s year is pretty much in line with his past. He has not been great nor consistent.

Kuzmenko has been useless.

It’s not like they have a bunch of tradeable assets. I am obviously excluding the young decent players.

Our most highly paid players are our biggest disappointments.

If I was Conroy, my to do list would be:

(1) Take as much as you can get for Vladar (because of Cooley), Barrie and Kuzmenko in advance of the TDL, using retention to do so;

(2) Trade Andersson if the return is big enough;

(3) Try to use cap space to get more futures (ex: by facilitating TDL deals through retention or taking salary cap dumps, or by retaining on your own players during trades); and

(4) Do not trade away any futures unless by some miracle, an age-appropriate centre with potential becomes available for a reasonable price.

Calgary only has 2 retention spots left. I doubt he waste one on the likes of Barrie. Kuzmenko likely needs retention just to move him, but the return would not be good anyway, so likely a waste of retention.

The best value of those 2 remaining retention spots would be at the TDL helping other teams for a price.

Unless Andersson +retention is worth a huge bundle to a cap strapped team.

Oh...nobody really covered themselves in Glory last night. Yeah, Kadri and Huberdeau scored, sure, but too little too late and even that faint damning praise is disingenuine because its not like they were without their own faults, however, nor were they getting much in the way of help.

Overall Kadri and Huberdeau played okay...it just wasn't anyone's night. The whole nightmarish road-trip was a complete rollercoaster from Hell...just brush the dirt of your shoulders and get back to it.

Those retention spots need to be used (on expiring contracts) if possible, and there’s no guarantee the Flames are able to get in on a trade as a 3rd team with them. So, I don’t think the Flames should turn down opportunities to use them, whatever they may be.

Edit: While I generally like the idea of using them on expiring contracts so they replenish, it could also be good to use them to boost an Andersson trade return.

We all knew it was going to be a rollercoaster.
