Appreciate the fight back. It was looking like a blowout at first, but the Flames made the game interesting for sure.

We're almost into November, and we just had our first regulation loss. Not bad.

Bounce back next game.

Slow start cost them. Liked the Flames second half of game thought Vladar played well hope he isn’t hurt too bad.

Full respect to both teams. Carolina really showed how good they can be and built up a lead but the Flames wore them down after that and made a game of it. Game could have been different with a couple bounces but as long as they battle through and get good goaltending the games are fun to watch.

I expect Vladar on IR and Cooley called up.

Good fight, great effort at the comeback, but it is hard to come back against really good teams sometimes.

Vladar was damn good tonight. Some of the rebounds were a bit of issue at times, but I thought he put in what I call a valiant effort. Hopefully it was just a slight pull of something and he will be 100% by the next game (in which he will probably be the backup anyway).

They did discuss it on 960 and apparently it was just him cramping up

I don't understand why they keep rotating between Wolf and Vladar. Is it to showcase Vladar for a trade?

They should let Wolf have a run of like 5 consecutive games to see how he reacts...

Disagree. The coaches have handled the goaltenders perfectly. They have both been excellent.

Vladar has earned his starts. If he falters then I'd expect Wolf to play more consecutive games but goaltending has been the strength so far.

Mantha: has come as advertised. Shows a bunch of skill then disappears for long stretches.

Kirkland: is becoming a really cool journeyman story, loved seeing his family on the broadcast all wearing the Costco Signature crewnecks.

Zary: once he figured out what dangles he can get away with and how to sneak goals past the goalies is going to be a heck of a highlight reel.

Overall terrible first 30 minutes and amazing 2nd half of the game. Good to see Huberdeau pot another one and Bean get his first as a Flame.

Go Flames Go!

I was watching the Carolina feed and they were saying he's known for giving up lots of rebounds and were frequently calling them out. Overall, though, they were a pretty good crew and were giving the Flames a lot of credit once they got themselves back in the game and for their start to the season.

Only caught the second half tonight...as the Flames started to battle back...fell short, but can't fault the effort at least in the last half of the second and the third. Some crap puck luck, but you can't get 'em all. Thought the call on Weegs was weird. Oh well...on to the Jets. No complaints.

Because neither have gave Huska a reason to run with the other. Now that Vladar has a loss and is possibly hurt Wolf might get consecutive starts.

The fact that this is the first regulation loss of the season is amazing.

That record still looks really good for the start to a season. Not even mad.

Keep the regulation losses to 1 in 7 games and we'll be golden.

I think it's a good bet that Wolf gets the next start.

He will, I mean the start after that.

There's been really no reason to not alternate. People who think Wolf should be getting the bulk of the starts even though Vladar has played just as well need to have patience.

Line Performance 5v5

Pospisil Kadri Kuzmenko 12:10 / Corsi 51.43% / xGF 57.89
Zary Backlund Coleman 11:19 / CF 55.56% / xGF 22.83
Huberdeau Kirkland Mantha 7:12 / CF 33.33% / xGF 14.99%
Lomberg Rooney Coronato 3:46 / CF 22.22% / xGF 17.22%
Huberdeau Kirkland Coronato 4:22 / CF 0.00% / xGF 0.00%

I don't think Kirkland is the center for Huberdeau. Not that he's the problem with Mantha providing nothing tonight outside of drawing a penalty, but still that is two games where Huberdeau's impact has dropped at 5v5 a lot.

Hopefully Sharangovich is back next game and they can either slot him in at C or put Zary or Pospisil there. I'd keep Pospisil with Kadri and Kuzmenko as that line is reliably good.

The fourth line got killed and gave up 5 scoring chances and 7 shots against in less than 4 mins of icetime. Rooney and Lomberg were exposed in this one with 2 shot attempts for at 5v5 and 13 and 12 against respectively.
