Predators Jan. 9th Trade Review
The team finally started playing well and than came the shakep. The Predators after winning 2 in a row and closing the division lead to 2 points behind Minnesota made 4 trades yestersday. "I acquire guys but then I trade them, because they didn't like our yellow jerseys so you better like the puke jerseys or you wont be here,"said GM Schum.
The day started with the Panthers GM sending all sort of offers for Gonchar and even Jovonovski, who GM Schum will not trade. Panthers finanlly gave what the Preds wanted, depth players with good overalls. "The tootoo train was the key to this deal, we have were having transportation problems and the train will certainly end those problems." added GM Schum. Here the rest of the deal.
To Panthers: Sergei Gonchar + Randy Robitaille
To Predators: Willie Mitchell + Jordin Tootoo + Antii Laaksonen +Mikael Samuelsson
The Predators also sent $2.9 million to cover the cap.
Then The Predators acquired more depth at defence, by acquiring Tomi Pettinen for a 3rd rounder selection from the Tampa Bay Lightning. "I dont even know who Pettinen is, but hopefuly he plays well." Said Captain Naslund.
Still not satisfied with his defence, GM Schum went out and got another very underrated defenceman in Rhett Warrener. "Warrener the Warrior" Said GM Schum. Here the full details of this deal.
To Nordiques: Ales Kotalik + Mattias Norstrom
To Predators: Nils Ekman + Rhett Warrener
The Last deal brought more offence to the Predators as they acquired Dainius Zubrus. "As the Devils said, Zubrus is still living of the hype of 97 cup run, but as long he stays up there in his overall rating, we'll take Z and the hype the comes along with him." Said GM Schum. Full details below.
To Predators: Dainius Zubrus + 3rd round (Ott)
To Devils: Benoit Pouliot + Nils Ekman + Alexander Svitov + 5th round (SJ)
The Predators added many quality players. Also Ekman and Gonchar moved on without suiting up for the Predators. Preds wish good luck to all players.
