Flames 2024 Training Camp Day 3

Looks like Jurmo and Jamieson swap groups and Murphy and Ignatjew also swap back

Miromanov on a pairing is going to be ugly and might drag Weegar down, the guy didn't impress me at all in the few games he played with us.

What didn't you like about his game?

I thought the Flames were generating more offense with him on the ice. As far as defense I'm still unsure what Miromanov's game is, and to what extent was Weegar covering for him. That said, the pairing held their own last year. In fact, I don't think it was any worse than Zadorov - Weegar, and Z just signed a $30M contract.

Small sample size but Miromanov was excellent in his 368 minutes five on five.

Second best defenseman on the season in xGA60 and 2nd in xGF%. And best in GA60 for actuals.

He can look shaky but little doubt he got the job done.

I am hoping he continues to be great. Fantastic start with the Flames, hopefully he keeps it up.

Ya I'm kinda the opposite. I thought he played amazing given the circumstances.

It'll be tough to replicate that. If he can improve it'll be amazing

Yeah I'm certainly not pencilling him in for a shut down core defender.

But the guy had a great results in his 20 games in Calgary.

And 20 games playing with Weegar is emerging as a sample size too.

Without having seen Bahl or Bean play for the Flames yet, I’m hoping Pachal is on the roster to start the season as I liked his game. Yes he made mistakes, but he played heavy and wasn’t afraid to jump on opportunities to join the rush or make a quick pass up in transition. I do like the quantity of competition for NHL jobs on D and if he doesn’t make the cut I’ll be excited to see what the coaching staff see in who does make the team.

I have him pencilled in as the 7th D man. I think Barrie makes the team.

I just hope Pachal gets better when reacting to a forward faking a shot. His default mode last year was to attempt to block the fake shot, and have the forward skate by him, or create a grade A scoring chance because Pachal was out of position.

Aside from that I liked his game, I think he's an average 6/7. Hopefully he's one of the D that's going to take a step this year.

Here's my bold prediction for the 24/25 Calgary Flames:

Kevin Bahl explodes into an allstar

I think there's a better chance of Kevin Dahl exploding into an allstar.

24 year old good skating big D man just entering the prime years of his career. Like I said, it's a Bold Prediction. A scorching hot take, if you will.

Let's get Bahl into the lineup first. Missing camp isn't a great start with a new team.

I fully reserve the right to twist that hot take into prophecy when he lays out a perennial all star like Kucherov.
