I guess I missed that—did look but probably “man-looked”…
Agree with your sentiment whole-heartedly!
And as I said elsewhere, I watched his show as a kid, I grew up with it and he seemed like he really just embodied that spirit of Calgary, he was stand-up guy and he loved his job, he loved the kids that loved his show and he loved this City.

Last week was my birthday, and like every year, I had the Beatles birthday song playing in my head all day. As an August birthday, I never got to hear Benny read my name on my birthday because they took the summers off, but I did win one of their gifts from Santa when I was 4 or 5.
From everything I've ever heard from people who knew him, he was as nice a person in real life as he was on camera.
RIP Buck Shot.

I was on the show for my birthday when I turned 4 and 7.
Nothing could prepare 4 year old me for the excitement of Benny the bear popping out of his box. McDonald’s would deliver cheeseburgers and orange drink for everyone. It was awesome!
He would interview kids on the birthday shows and I remember he was asking everyone “do you have a favourite hockey player?” My 4 year old answer - “Calgary”. Buckshot loved that answer! Huge Flames fan and a staple of many lunch hours and kids days at the Stampede.
Loved by many and even though he hasn’t been on tv for several decades he left a mark on many! RIP.

Oh my God...so many memories of McDonald's 'Orange Drink.'
Bottle Drives, BBQs...they should sell that stuff in Juice Boxes. I'd buy it.
"Is it Orange Juice?" No. Not really. It is technically orange, in colour, but I wouldnt bet that any actual Oranges were harmed in it's creation.
